Need Points and Discount Question

Hello,

I've done this once before - it was great!

I need just 10 points for one night at Old Key West in a studio in late May. But attached to this request I have a question. When I "rented" points from someone for a trip during October, the front desk put on my room key "**DVC MEMBER** and for the duration of my trip I was able to secure the same discounts a regular DVC member could secure.

Does having this status give you a discount on the purchase of a premium annual pass? And is this discount obtainable as a "**DVC MEMBER**" when "renting" points from an actual member?

No, you have to present a Blue Member card to get the discount, unless you live with the DVC member at the same address. Renters are not entitled to any DVC discounts and perks, but you may get some. You won't get the AP discount.

I am also wondering what can be discounted without the membership. What just goes along with staying as a "DVC guest"?. Can park passes be discounted? What restaurants would give a discount? I've looked around the internet but haven't found this info.

Once when we rented points to stay at BCV we were given the DVC discount at Cape May Buffet as the wait staff noticed our KTTW card said *DVC member.*

I guess the times are changing. In the past, our room key was enough. Our last trip, we were asked to show our Member card for discounts at least 5 times at different locations. I figured with all the renting, this would eventually happen.

I will become a member any day now. What is the AP discount? What are some of the best discounts you get as a member?

When I was at The World in early December, DVC members got NO discounts, everywhere I asked - including on my AP purchased at EPCOT. We asked for and got no discounts at DTD, shops in any of the parks, or restaurants anywhere in WDW.

On our previous visit we did get some discounts at some places, but not on park tickets.

As you might imagine, we were sort of miffed!
