Does anyone know of a good travel planning website for information related to North California? Specifically, my family of 4 will be in Sacramento for 2 weeks during July 2003 and I'd like to read up and ask questions.

I have found a website for what may be an interesting place to stay - renovated lodgings on the McClellan Air Force Base, Lion's Gate Hotel.

Thank you,
Peggy

Thank you for the list of over 1,000,000 websites! ;)

I can understand frustration over people posting questions without bothering to look for themselves but I have quite a bit of time online and can't find quite what I am looking for, if it even exists.

Anyone have a specific site that they like related to travel in North California/Sacramento area? If there is a related message board, that would be perfect.

Again, my thanks to anyone who can help.

Peggy

I don't know of a web-site, but if you're spending 2 weeks in Sacto, you can easily go to the Sierras, specifically Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, San Francisco-Oakland. Two weeks in Sacto is a lot, but if you'll be there for a specific reason, and can't travel too far, try to find web-sites dealing with the immediate area. (SF can be a day-trip, not sure about Yosemite or Tahoe - those may need to be over-nighters.) There's a minor-league baseball team in Sacramento - the Rivercats (part of the Oakland A's.) I usually drive through our state Capitol, don't stop unless DS was in a soccer or baseball tournament there! Good luck.

Thank you, Julie, for the suggestions. We will be visiting family in Sacramento and are planning on at least one day trip to San Francisco and a weekend at Yosemite. I'll have to look into Lake Tahoe and your other suggestions.

I guess I am so spoiled by the excellent Disney vacation websites, such as the DIS, and really miss not having something similar for other family vacations.
