Hello all,
We know we have plenty of time to plan and organize our vow renewal. We were married at the wedding pavilion on 17 March 2005 and right after the ceremony my DH said he wants to have vow renewals every 5 years since the lady at the courthouse told him the liscense expire every 5 years. So we have started planning for the 1st vow renewal. Our plans so far....

March 2007 - send out save the date ink pens
June 2007 - send out a newsletter with a basic overview
Sept 2007 - newsletter about the parks and basic ticket info
Dec 2007 - Xmas newsletter with resort info
March 2008 - save the date (not sure what type)
June 2008 - newsletter basic vow renewal plans
Sept 2008 - newsletter basically answering any questions
Dec 2008 - Basic invite for head count and resort nights (Yes and Maybes)
March 2009 - Finally schedule with Disney Weddings
June 2009 - Detailed newsletter about the plans for the week
Sept 2009 - invites to welcome party, and farewell breakfast
Dec 2009 - invites to other planned events
Jan 2010 - Vow renewal invitations
March 2010 - Vow renewal week

Please let us know what you all think

i hate to rain on your parade, because your vow renewals sound like they will be a lot of fun, but marriage licenses have nothing to do with anything once you're married. they are just something you must obtain in order to actually get married. once you are official, the license no longer has any valid importance.
but hey, any excuse you can find to have a vow renewal every five years, i would definitely use it! have fun planning!! best of luck!! :goodvibes

Thanks for the reply. If you would have seen DH the 3 days before the wedding you would have sworn he was going to be a run away groom. Rev. Day told him he hadn't seen anyone as nervous as he was just at the rehearsal. Rev. Day actually threaten to smack him just to get him to calm down. DH stayed nervous until his sister read the hands of the bride and groom.

I think having the vow renewals every 5 years will be lots of fun.

Forgive my ignorance, but do people really save the date 3 YEARS in advance?? It seems a little excessive to me, I'd think the guests would be tired of hearing about it by the time the actual ceremony comes around. And the PP is correct, the marriage license expiring in 5 years means that after the license is granted, you have 5 years in which to actually get married. If you wait longer, you need a new license before you can be married. Once you are married, the renewals are just ceremonial.

That being said, I think it's great that you two are so happy together! You sound like a very sweet couple.
