I LOVE these boards! We too are at CBR in October.....it's only for 2 nights (Tuesday/Wednesday) before a Wonder cruise. We chose CBR because we were planning to spend Tuesday at the pool and do parks on Wednesday. What are the other "fun" pool resorts for adults, beverages & spa are a must. $$ is a consideration, so even an upgrade to deluxe might not be doable.

Now we are thinking about doing Universal instead. We have never been there and DD will be at home with grandma & grandpa. We had thought about doing this earlier, but gave in to Disney!

Any and all ideas appreciated!!

Thanks,
Susan

I would suggest Port Orleans French Quarter, and Scats Club; as well as close proximity to Port Orleans Riverside (you can walk or take the boat cruise after 4); and to Downtown Disney.

Port Orleans Riverside - mansion section. One main pool with spa and bar. 5 quiet pools. Main lounge with entertainment in the main building. Very romantic.

If I was going to upgrade, I would upgrade to the Wilderness Lodge. Nice pool with bar. Very romantic as well.

I personally do not care for the Universal resorts, however if that is your choice I like Portofino Bay the best. :p

I would stay at CSR. It is promoted to have the best pools on Disney property. In addition, since it is a convention resort it is designed to suit adults well. There is a large spa on the property. Also, direct bus service to Boardwalk is provided, if you wanted to spend an evening there. Check it out. We were there last January (all adults)and had a wonderful time.

The only moderate we've stayed at is POR, and I would stay there again if budget limited me to a mod. We love both AKL & WL -- if you can swing the extra $ would highly recommend these.

I definately would not stay at a resort with a major rehab again. We stayed at the Poly while they were doing the pool rehab and it did take away from the magic, even though we did not use the pool much anyway as DD was only 2 at the time.

So, with CBR closing, will they offer us an upgrade to another resort? They won't make us stay at the All Stars resorts will they? Not that there is anything wrong with the All Stars, it's just that I was planning on the CBR...

Can I ask for an upgrade to a deluxe?? Can I request any or does Disney just put me in another resort without asking me? I'm not going until Thanksgiving, but I'm stressing now about this news...

Jeanny -

WDW will not put you in the All Stars! They will attempt to place you in another moderate - POR, POFQ or CSR. In some cases they may offer you a complimentary upgrade to AKL or WL OR they may offer an upgrade to AKL or WL for a small per night additional fee. :p

Thanks, Kerri...
I was able to get through to my travel agent this morning. He had no idea, and when he called down to Disney, the person who answered the phone at first said "No, it's not true, CBR is not closing" but when they went further and checked, they told my agent, "it just came through this morning, we didn't know about it"

He said I can switch to POR if I want, or wait for Disney to contact him and he can let them know what I want to switch to. Maybe by then, they'll give me an upgrade... We're going at Thanksgiving and I'm just afraid everything will be booked up.
