Need Opinions Quick - DING fare!!

I just got dinged with a fare of $57 RT from RDU to MCO, and they have flights at good times on the dates we're going (9/3 - 9/10). Total cost for 5 (paying for 4, baby flying free) would be $531 RT! It's a direct flight, too, so we would probably save about 6 hours one-way of actual travel time, at least.

Given all the stuff you have to pack for a baby, hassle with luggage and airports, and not having a car available at WDW (we'd rely on DME to get to and from the airport), my question is this:

IS IT WORTH IT TO SPRING FOR THE AIRFARE? OR WOULD YOU JUST DRIVE?

Also, can you book an internet DING rate for 5 people, but only pay for 4 (baby free)? If so, how?

FLY FLY FLY! I can't tell you how much stress it relieves when traveling with the little ones! Our drive is 12 hours and we flew for the first time last year and will probably never drive again. If you're concerned about DME being a problem, get a towncar service with a van it's around $110 roundtrip and well worth it!

As for paying for the baby, mine never needed a ticket, we just showed up with a lap baby, but you may want to call and confirm that!

Don't forget about the amount it would cost you to drive. Gas is expensive now, and you'd have wear & tear on your car, plus a meal or two on the road. You might also want to take into consideration the amount of time spent in the airport vs the amount of time spent driving. How dependent have you been on your car on past trips to WDW? I would never consider driving at this point in my life (from NY), as the time wasted on the road could have been spent at WDW!

Go for it!

We had planned to drive but SW came out with the $39 rates so we ended up flying (June 1-8) I only paid $290 for the three of us roundtrip. The flights were great! 1.5 hours compared to 10 hours drive. We also got a great deal on a rental car from National ($125 for a full size car for eight days).
