Hi! Wanted to get some opinions. Our trip is booked for early December, our party is 3 adults, 2 kids, and a toddler- we have two rooms booked at Pop, we are requesting connecting rooms. My mother in law who is traveling with us is now looking to see about switching to a moderate resort for more space. In your opinion is this worth the extra cost if we spend most of our days in the parks? Is there really that much more space between Pop and a moderate resort like Caribbean Beach? We've only ever stayed at Pop so I don't have experience staying at any other resort.

The rooms might be a little bigger, but CB is really spread out. It could be a lot less convenient overall if you're a slog from all the transportation.

CB does have a really nice pool, but sounds like that's not on the menu for December park warriors.

Two connecting rooms sounds like plenty of space for five humans.

If you are paying and you’re happy with pop then I would stick with that and not be pushed to spend more money that you don’t need to spend (or that you can spend on food or merch or G+ instead).

If she is insistent on paying then it’s always fun to try a new resort just in terms of seeing the different lobby, grounds, and trying different food. You’ll also be one step closer to Epcot and Hollywood Studios on the skyliner.

either way have a blast!

Yes she is offering to pay the difference, just didn't know if it was truly worth it! I also recently learned that CBR does not have elevators which will be an issue since we will have a child in a stroller.

Gotcha. I’ve stayed at pop but not CBR. Can put a request in for first floor but not sure how easy that is to accommodate for them. Maybe others can chime in. Or maybe no elevator = no go.

If switching just for space then I don't see much improvement for the extra cost (any indication on how much more?).
As previously mentioned, use the extra $$ you'd spend on nicer meals, merch, etc.

I think it would be an extra $800 or so... I looked it up myself on the Disney website just to see, but my friend who booked for us said she would get back to me on price.

WOW....for me and my family, $800 would not be worth the slightly larger room. We did stay at CBR in 2017 (when it was under construction), and thoroughly enjoyed our stay despite the construction, but it was our 25th anniv trip...slower placed, not as much time in the parks, etc. $800 seems like alot extra, especially if the majority of your time will be in the parks. Have a great time though....regardless of where you stay I'm sure it will be great !!

If you're doing 2 rooms...Pop would be fine and way less walking due to size of the resort.

We have stayed mostly at moderates (prior to buying DVC) but did stay at POP one time which we enjoyed as well. As I recall the rooms at mods are significantly bigger but there is also more that the moderates offer than bigger rooms. POP as I recall only has a curtain separating the dressing area from the rest of the room, moderats also generally have bars, some have sit down restaurants, and most have better pools and food court. Our favorite moderate is by far French Quarter but also really liked Coronado (huge), we did not like CBR although our stay there was 25 years ago. Have you thought of renting DVC points and staying in a 2BR villa?

The other bonus of staying at CBR, aside from the obvious upgrade in terms of room size and amenities, is that you would not have to change skyliner lines to get to the parks. CBR is the hub so regardless of which park you are going to it is direct. Also, keep in mind that connecting rooms is just a request and not guaranteed. Only a family suite (AOA or All Star Music) would guarantee that you would all be together. That being said if the only reason for switching is room size I do not think $800 is worth it but if it keeps her happy it may be?

Just thinking .... you do know that connecting rooms is only a request and you might not get them. Were you planning on some kids sleeping in mom's room and the connecting allows ease of this? Or are you all sleeping in the one room with the toddler in a pack n play?

CBR would give you more space in sq footage for the pack n play but you are correct, no elevators, first floor rooms are a very popular request AND if you add connecting to that, you lower your odds.

From what you describe, I'd stick with POP, let her spend the cash on some nice meal experiences for all.

Personally I would upgrade. The direct skyliner, bigger room, nicer pool (my kids preferred CBR pool over the Poly pool), nice pool slide, TS at the resort and a great pool bar. We did CBR twice when my kids were younger before the big refurb in 2017/2018. We did it once with a stroller and we had an upper floor. It wasn’t a big deal for us with the stroller.

Yes was hoping to send one of the older kids in with my mother in law. Looks like all that is left is the 5th sleeper rooms, so not even sure what the chances are with getting connecting 5th sleeper rooms.

Since there isn't a big enough difference in the room amenities themselves - I would go with POP and make your only request "connecting" rooms. Your odds are much better there and they have elevators.
