I'm considering a fall trip to WDW. I'm interested in Nights of Joy. I understand its in MK, but where? I'm picturing a concert on the castle steps and everyone just standing up and down the street. Is that what its about? Also, do you need park admission in addition to your event ticket? Is it enjoyable, or a mob scene? Thanks for your help

The concert in front of the castle is a mob. We went last year. The crowd watching Hillsong was all the way down Main Street. My DH is a worship pastor so we were there for a conference. We watched Hillsong at the conference so did not watch them perform at MK. There is music all over the park from various Christian artists. It was crowded but I did not think wait times for rides were bad. We normally go in the summer or Thanksgiving and the waits were less than what I am used to. We did Epcot in the morning then hopped over to MK around 3.

As stated above - there are 3 stages. The main one is directly in front of the castle, and that is where the "headliner" acts will perform. It is also (by far) the most crowded.

It's a pretty busy event - lots of youth groups. Crowds can be difficult to navigate at times (mostly around the castle). The rest of the park is pretty manageable.

You do not need regular park admission - you must have a Night Of Joy event ticket. This will get you into the park at 4 pm that day. If you want into the park before 4, you will need a regular ticket as well as a ticket to Night of Joy.

We have went last couple years. For perspective, Skillet, Casting Crowns, Mercy Me, and Newboys have played at the Castle Stage. People stand around along the hub area. Toby Mac and Hillsong were the most crowded with people standing as far back as Caseys hot dog restaurant. Building 429, and Mandisa played the Tomorrowland stage between Buzz Lightyear and Carousel of Progress. No name up and coming groups were out by Space Mountain. It was also the overflow with a screen for Matthew West who played Tommorowland 2 years ago. Last year he was "promoted" to the castle stage.
We get there a little before 4 and once in ride rides and eat. The concerts start about 7:30 and end at 1.
There is no MSEP or fireworks unless an act does them. Skillet has both years.
It usually sells out a day or two prior. You can buy a Friday ticket or Saturday ticket for I think $59. A two night ticket cost $109. Last year if you bought the 2 night ticket before early August you got a free one day waterpark ticket.
I had heard it was very crowded and full of unruly youth groups. I did not feel either the years we have gone.

Thank you all for your replies. This was just the information I was looking for. We are a senior couple and not crazy about mobs, crowds are OK, mobs rattle me. Thanks for your help.
