Need New cookware, what should I get?

We purchased a motorhome last fall and I need to purchase cookware. I was thinking of upgrading my home cookware and putting my older pots into the MH. At home I currently have All Clad pots, and Farberware (both stainless). I was thinking of putting the farberware in the MH and buying something to replace it in the house.

I was looking at Anodized sets like Calphalon or Rachael Ray. But I have never used anodized cookware before.

I currently have $80.00 in Kohls cash, and a 20% coupon, so if I can pick it up there I would save some $$ by using that.

Any suggestions??

I think you would be better off buying a cheap set to put in the motorhome. Old Faberware and All-Clad are about the best pots I think you can get.

I also wouldn't deal with anything nonstick if you're used to stainless - it reacts differently to food and you don't want to relearn how to cook for no good reason.

Personally I'd just find a decent stainless set wherever, make sure they have a good weight to them, and put them in the camper.

They did have a Farberware set at Kohls today as well. I think it was $200. With the $80 off and 20% it would be about $103. after tax.

Edited to say:
Either I remembered the price wrong, or it is cheaper online. This is the set I looked at today: http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-401213/farberware-classic-series-10-pc-cookware-set.jsp

Not sure if my 20% is good online but the kohl's cash is which would make this set about $50.00.

Got my son a set of farberware last year. They were not happy with them after one year. I have had my farberware for 29 years and they still look great. So I guess the china made farberware is not the same quality as the one I got made in the usa all those years ago..

We started upgrading from Caphalone One to All-Clad and we were really disappointed. The really good anodized cookware is the best mix of pros and cons there is we feel.

I need some new cookware too.

I've been researching, and I'm going to buy Cuisinart Multi-clad Pro items (note that they have several other lines with not so different names). Their online reviews are better than some of the more pricey items. Specifically, they're good quality because the interior layers of aluminum/other stuff I can't remember extend all the way up the sides of the pans (as opposed to some of the others that have layers only on the bottoms of the pans).

The best prices I've found are on Amazon.

I'm buying individual pieces because I do not need large stockpots and steamer inserts. I need basic frying pans and sauce pans -- those are the things that are wearing out on me.

I'm saving my worn-out RevereWare for my girls to take to their first college apartments. While they're sharing with roommates, things can be damaged /walk away so easily.

I would look for one of those package deals and just make sure the metal is thick and not thin/cheap.

Go to Cook's Illustrated web site. They have both a t.v. show and magazine and do extensive research on the best products. You will be surprised at how often it is an inexpensive item that wins their top review! It's worth reading all of their reviews, and I promise they are spot on knowing what they are talking about!

Well, I decided to go cheap for the motorhome. I went to a different Kohl's today and they had a 15 piece set of Farberware Classic set. 1 stock pot w/ lid, 3 sauce pans with lids, 1 skillet with lid, a fry pan, a cookie sheet, and 3 plastic utensils for $98.00. After kohls cash and the 20% discount, it cost me about $16.00. :thumbsup2 And I now have all the pieces I need for the MH.

:thumbsup2 REALLY smart move there. After using Farberware, I don't think any of the options you mentioned would have come close. I have my wedding present set (34 years old) and addl pieces I have bought from Amazon lately (Large stock pots etc.) and they all are wonderful.

I bought the multi-clad pro a few months ago and I love it.

I love my All-Clad D5 but as you know, it's not cheap.

Hard anodized cookware really isn't healthy to cook on. If that isn't a concern for you, or if you "must" have nonstick cookware, I guess it will work for you. No anodized cookware will last a lifetime, or even 10 years.

We previously had Calphalon hard anodized cookware and I'm so happy to have my stainless cookware now. I switched for health reasons as well as I just hated my Calphalon...it was 8 years old and should have been replaced after 4.

Just in case anyone is curious...

We have a Rachel Ray Anodized set and it is FANTASTIC!

I am very picky about cookware, and the Emeril Stainless Steel set that we got when we were first married was AWFUL. No matter what I did, everything stuck - and when I mean stuck... I mean STUCK.

My mom always used TFal (back in the day when it was ghastly expensive).

Our Rachel Ray cookware looks like it did when we took it out of the box 5 years ago.

The only cookware that I envy now is Le Creuset! HAHA

I LOVE cooking with cast iron - but DW hates it! Hence my envy of Le Creuset! HAHA

Too late for you, OP, but you might want to consider this little 4th burner "wonderpot" (my name) for your MH:

http://www.qvc.com/The-Ultimate-Sta...ELL-_-IOFFER-_-1&relType=IOFFER&refLocation=1

I love the pour spout, cup markings on inside, ability to strain and the fact you can make use of your small burner while using a larger skillet, etc. in the front. I also have the larger version (available at QVC or Amazon) with a steamer basket.

Also fond of my Cuisinart 3 qt. Chef's Pan - I bought this with the rounded sides for whisking gravies/sauces, but find it versatile enough for small stir fries or any normal 3 qt. use:

http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-735...=1365755326&sr=1-2&keywords=cuisinart+saucier

Finding in my old age that I buy less "sets" and instead buy individual pots for my needs. I.E., love my SS WearEver (from Walmart, no less!:scared1:;)), nonstick skillets for eggs, cast iron for browning, etc.
