I am trying to decide about getting my daughter a My Disney Girl doll or not. She wants an AG doll but does not take the greatest care of her dolls yet. She is 5 yr old. I am leaning toward Our Generation dolls from Target - they are about $30 - $40 and come with 2 outfits & accessories & a story. But I thought about the My Disney Girl dolls too. Does anyone have one & could give me a review? Are they posable - like do they bend at all the joints or just hips & shoulders? How much are they?
TIA
Carol

I'm in the same boat. My dd6 rerally wants an AG, but i'm hesitant b\c of the $$. I was thinking about the Target dolls too. I didn't know anything about the Disney Girl dolls.

Are they really into dolls? We love the AG dolls. DD got hers when she was a little to young to take care of them herself, so I would brush her hair before it got to messy. She's had her (1st) doll for 4 years and it is still in like new condition. Personally if it's something you think they'll play with alot I'd go with the AG doll. They hold up to rough play and will last longer than either of those other 2 dolls. You might have to help them/teach them to take care of their doll.

We have both My Disney Girl doll, and also AG dolls. She just turned 6 a month ago. The AG dolls are much better quality than the My Disney Girl doll. My daughter loves to comb and do her AG dolls hair and the AG dolls comb really nicely. My Disney girl doll's hair is a nightmare and much harder to maintain. So if you think that she will play with them, I would go ahead and get her an AG doll.

I don't know anything about the Disney dolls, but would NOT recommend the Target dolls. I'm all for saving a buck, but the Target ones, especially their hair, are awful. (If you remember the blonde doll hair from the 70s that would meld into one big dreaded clump, it's like that!)

I would recommend getting a Goetz (Gotz) Precious Day doll instead. Tuesday Morning stores often have them for $30. (I've heard sometimes Marshalls has them as well.) Goetz is the original maker of the AG dolls (though now it's Mattel.) Very nice quality, much better than Our Generation.

Be sure to get a wire wig brush (I got DD's at Sally's beauty Supply, about $3). Any other sort (or any brush used on human hair) will reek havoc with the doll hair.

I would spend the extra $$ and get the AG doll...just keep up with the hair and it will last forever. You can buy the target doll clothes or disney costumes for it. I think the disney girls are around 50 and are no where as nice as the American girl doll.

The My Disney Doll's hair is AWFUL!! I finally got DD to part with her because it was driving me crazy...it was just so nasty looking.

I would get the AG doll. My daughter (age 10) has two of the AG doll and one of the Disney Dolls. The Disney Doll is cute and my daughter loves her but the quality compared to the AG doll is very poor. Everytime we comb the hair of the Disney Doll, so much comes out. The AG dolls have held up so nicely, and we've never had any hair come out. We got them for her when she was five and we told her that they were very special girls and she had to take care of them (no marker lipstick like her other babies, no haircuts :scared1: or nail polish to the nails). She's done a great job.princess: IMO, It was definately worth the money to get the AG dolls. :flower3:
