Need Mother's Day/Birthday Gift Suggestions

My Mom's birthday is on May 13th and Mother's Day is on the 14th this year so I have a lot to do for next weekend (plus DS's birthday is the 14th but I have him covered ). My Mom is notoriously hard to buy for and I usually end up asking her what she would like and she never really knows but can usually come up with a CD or something she would like or I will get her flowers.

I would really like to get her something special but I just don't know what. My Mom does not travel, garden, decorate, etc.. You cannot buy her clothes, she wears no makeup or jewlery and gets her hair cut for $5 on the first Tuesday of the month at some local beauty shop. She does not do crafts. She does not really have any hobbies except she loves Nascar and spends lots of time watching racing shows and posting on NASCAR internet boards. However, she does not want to go to a race because that involves travel and she does not like crowds. She does collect NASCAR memorabilia of her favorite driver but she has so much of it that most of it is stacked out in the garage. The only stuff she does not have is $$$$$$. She watches a lot of TV and plans most of her evenings around what shows she watches. (She has 2 VCRs to make sure she gets to watch everything she wants to).

What on earth can I get for her? I really wish I had some clue but she is very hard to shop for.

How much are you thinking of spending? Would TIVO be too much?

Go to www.nascar.com. I think there is a TrackPass (or something like that) subscription you can get where you can have internet access to live coverage of the races, I think it includes radio transmission for all the drivers.

Good luck. It's so hard to find something for my mom, too.

She does not like candles or any of that home decoration type things. She also does not perfumes, etc..

She has the TrackPass subscription already.

I have mentioned TIVO to her multiple times because I LOVE mine and with how much TV she watches you would think she would love it but she keeps insisting to me that she does not want TIVO and she likes her multiple VCR system better.

How about a nice card full of lottery tickets? That might lead to her having lots of $$$$! That's why I get for my parents mainly cause it's easy to mail!

Does she have a favorite restaurant? Maybe a Gift Certificate.
