I take a lot of flower/insect photographs. I just have my 18-105 kit lens, which will do an okay job. But does not produce the results that I know a macro lens would, with the clarity. Does anyone here do a lot of macro work, & can you reccommend a lens? I shoot Nikon D-7000. Thanks!

For a macro you have several choice.

The two newest macro lenses for DX: Nikon 40mm f/2.8 DX Micro or Nikon 85mm f/3.5 VR DX Micro

Then there is the gold standard focal length: The Nikon 105mm comes in a variety of builds: the original 105, 105 D, 105 VR.

And rounding out the Nikons are the 60mm 2.8 micro and the very pricey 200mm f/4.

Sigma makes some very good macros. a 105mm and 150mm
Tamron makes a 90mm macro that gets really good reviews as well.

I've used the Sigma 150mm macro a couple times and I really like the working distance it provides. You don't have to be right on to of your subject to get 1:1 reproductions.

Curious to see what kinds of responses you get.

I don't have a specific Macro lens but have heard good thongs about the 40 f2.8. Jared Polin from FroKnowsPhoto.com gave it really good reviews. He's got a video on the review.
