I'm looking forward to going to WDW in 2 weeks. But I got laid off from my job last spring and am really trying to make this trip low-cost. I'm a DVCer, going solo. Lately it seems I'm constantly seeing info about things that look fun until I see the price (for example, the holiday sleigh rides at WL; the Yuletide Fantasy tour). Right now I'm sort of sad about all the things I won't do this year. So please give me some suggestions of things that are fun, will really put me in the Christmas spirit, and they don't cost alot (better if they don't cost at all!)

This is our first Christmas to WDW, so we are planning to spend our first day visiting some of the different resorts to see the decorations.

Remember at Fort Wilderness Campground the have a program with Chip and Dale every night and a movie. They have a campfire to make s'mores (you can bring your own or buy them there).

We are staying at the new Pop Century Resort and 'rumor' has it that at 8:00 every night they are going to 'Do the Hustle' (or some retro dance). We can't wait to see all the old icons around the resort.

Visiting Downtown Disney is fun. I bet it will be decorated. Someone said there would be a Santa there (again, this is our first trip, so I don't know this first hand).

I hope you have a wonderful trip! Just relaxing at your resort will be nice. I love our 'down' days when we are not at the parks. I get so exhausted walking the parks!

BTW, this isn't free, but one of our favorite things we did on one of our down days was to go to Beaches and Cream and order "The Kitchen Sink". I confess, we did this at 11:00 in the morning and we hadn't eaten lunch (OK, I am a bad mommy). We thought with the four of us (2 adults, 2 nine year olds) we could finish it, but we couldn't! My kids still talk about that!

We always enjoy visiting the other resorts. They are all decorated in different ways. Most of them have gingerbread houses on display, Christmas trees, and much more. You can see the animals at Animal Kingdom Lodge. And yes, Downtown Disney is all dressed up, too.

go to Mousesavers.com. On the left hand column click on "Disney Freebies" and then go to the bottom of the page. In red it says something like "free and cheap things to do at WDW". Lots of interesting suggestions. Hope this helps you.....

Thanks! I figured there must be some kind of list of ideas somewhere. Off I go to look!

If you like the idea of it snowing on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom, Celebration does the same thing...it creates snow on Market Street (and it's free!)

At 6, 7, 8, and 9pm from Nov. 28 to Dec. 31, it snows on Market Street. They also have holiday entertainment, pictures with Santa, horse and carriage rides, Celebration Express train, a bunch of stuff. (The pictures with Santa and rides aren't free, but the snow and entertainment is.)

Two years ago at Christmas while alone after leaving DS and his friend at DQ I decided to see how many types of transportation I could fit in an afternoon and checked out some of the resorts and their decorations. Enjoyed some hot chocolate along the way and later walked around the Boardwalk and enjoyed the entertainment there in the evening.
