In 2001 we stayed at ASMo and loved it. This time I was hoping for WL because of the holiday decorations. BUT unless some awesome codes come out, we can't afford it. DH said lets just go back to ASMo's because "how often are we in the room anyhow, lets just save the $. Yes, I would love it, but save the $."

So, what does WL have to offer that I should try to S>T>R>E>T>C>H the budget, or should I just go for ASMo, and put the money toward more fun stuff?

Just wanted to say that even if you don't stay at WL, be sure to go over and check it out, maybe even take in a meal. It is beautiful and has gorgeous Christmas decorations.

Now you didn't mention exactly what dates you were looking to go, but If you're thinking about early Dec. then you do have a nice chance of getting a good code discount plus it will be value season. We stayed at WL week after T-day 2001 and there were discounts.

Some extras:
Wate pageant seen and heard every night on Bay Lake.
Marina
Beach area
Geyser
Boats to Mk & FW & CR
Awesome lobby rocking chairs - Awesome lobby
Lots of nooks to sit in
Two full service restaurants and one cs, plus a lounge
Bubbling brook that starts in the lobby and heads to the pool.

Good luck with your decision!

Disnee Dad Says...........................................WL is a great place to visit. That said when you talk about dollars, All Stars can't be beat. I could jump to a moderate if it is DIXIE LANDINGS, as we did three times. Did AKL for three nights, fantastic place, great view, but if dollars are hard to come by stick with All Stars. Or splurge on DIXIE LANDINGS,as it won't be much more, but the place is great! And you can take the boat to DD!

Personally, I would choose ASMO because I love it there, and the theming of WL doesnt really appeal to me. But since you do like both places, I can see your dilemma. Could you split the stay? Or even stay at ASMO for most of the trip and move to WL even 1 night? We have done this at the Poly. I love the Poly, but unfortunately, Im not rich. On our past couple trips we have stayed the last day/night at the Poly and get to enjoy all the benefits there. Since we only stay for 1 night, the packing & unpacking issue doesnt really bother us since we have to pack up anyway. We dont need much for 1 day.
Good luck deciding.

Thanks for the help so far!

We are arriving the Sunday after Thanksgiving, so I am hoping for the same discounts they had last year.

I am not sure that I want to pack 1/2 way between arrival and departure. We are bringing decorations to decorate the room, and I think maybe it would become to much of a hassle to change rooms. I know DH, he likes to be "settled" and doesn't like a lot of change! LOL!!!

BUT, on the flip side, the theming of WL would be perfect for DH. He is so much of an outdoors, upnorth kinda guy, and he would absolutely love the WL.

So, I am thinking maybe to book ASMo, and then if the codes come out, I can switch our ressies, and surprise him. Or, if I can save up more $ do the same either way.

Also thinking of doing KSC, but this would strictly be only for me and partly for my DS. DH and DD would absolutely get next to nothing from going there. I know this, and we have discussed it. But we are a very much give and take family, and he wants to do it, because I want to go. Maybe we should skip going there???

If you can come up with the extra cash I highly recommend the WL. When I
learned that I was going to get to go to WDW at Christmas the WL was the only
place I wanted to stay. The theming just fits so well with that time of the year. The
decorations are wonderful. A couple of extras that I could ad to minniegi's list is
that when I was there this past Dec the resort hosted different holiday entertainment
every evening. One evening it was a bell quire, another it was a wind ensemble. It
was so magical to walk out of my room and hear a bell quire playing christmas
carols in the lobby. I stood on the balcony above them and listened as the bells rang
out through that enormous grand lobby. Another night after a long day at the parks
I mixed myself a drink and walk out to one of the upstairs fireplaces, sat myself
down and had a wonderful relaxing hour or so just setting there soaking in all the
ambiance.

The AS's are great but if you can afford it the WL is fantastic!

You could also consider renting DVC points and staying at the Wilderness Lodge Villas.
