Hi all - I have a plan to change jobs -or at least look at other options at the start of the new year - I would welcome any tips - suggestion - etc.

Here's some background:
Currecntly I work from home - I work for a 24 hr company as a customer service supervisor - we service for maintenance and repairs for retail chains nationwide. I have been with the company for 17 yrs and have worked from home since my daughter started 1st grade...she is now in her first year in college. I won't go into details about job politics - etc but I feel that it's time for a change. I have no regrets about working from home but make no mistake it has just as many disadvantages as it has advantages. I greatly appreciate the opportunities that I have had but feel it's time for a change.

My other work experience is pirmarily retail - I worked for Waldenbooks for several years and also was Asst Manager for a store called Caren Charles (I think they may be out of business but they were part of the Casual Corner Group).

** Another note - due to lingering back and neck injuries froma car accident I have been advised that I cannot just sit at a desk for 8 hrs straight.

That being said I honestly don't know where to even start looking - my husband has always thought that I was selling myself short with the jobs I have had - he is strongly suggesting I look into the Real Estate field....I just need to get my confidence up to be able to start looking....

Any suggestions??

A lot of people find the book "What Color is my Parachute?" helpful when deciding what field they want to get into. That would be my first step since it sounds like you are unsure of what direction to go.

When you find one you are interested in, do some research online and maybe ask on the boards to find out the pros and cons. Once you've picked a profession you like, get your resume and cover letter together. The great thing about the job you have now is what is says about you as an employee. You obviously have great time management skills, you don't need constant supervision and the fact that you've done it for 17 years speaks highly of your loyalty. I would be sure to highlight these things when doing your resume/CL.

I agree with your husband, it sounds like any company would be lucky to have you! :teeth:

My goodness - I didn't realize that book was still around - used to sell alot of them at Waldens.
