can anyone help me?
My co-workers and I have put together a LARGE car package for our friend and co-worker, George, who is currently stationed in Baghad.
Happily, George has been able to email us and sent us his snail mail address to we can send him said goodies.

But now I am wondering - is there a restriction on how large the package can be? Anythign I need to know?

I did try to research this on the web, but I kept finding sites that wanted me to pay them to send something.

Any help appreciated!!! :earsgirl:

How large are we talking?

If it is past a 12x12 box I would say break it down to two boxes. The larger boxes don't make it one piece normally because they get thrown around so much. You also know to fill out a customs form at the post office?

The post office also has some flat rate boxes that you can pack up to 25lbs and mail for $7.70. Thanks for sending the boxes; I know how much they are appreciated.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply.

My company collected items and money - I think we collected about $120 and then items from 30 people. So the package is going to be huge. Correction: WAS going to be huge. We'll have to break it down. Maybe even stagger when we send things, which George might also appreciate.

We have been able to receive emails from George, and he assured us that he was planning on sharing with some other guardsmen who don't have the benefit of a wife/family/church/company to send them things. THAT comment made everyone head out to WalMart and purchase even more! LOL

Thanks again

Staggering the boxes would be perfect so he could have something to look forward to. If you can't find the flate rate boxes, shoe boxes are perfect to send; just cover up the box with some brown or white paper. My other suggestion (and this comes from my paranoid dh) is to put your business name and a partial address or something like that. Of course this isn't necessary though. Have a great day.

P.S. When packing the box I would put each group of items in their own ziploc bag to be safe. Honestly things you wouldn't think of can melt or explode. The soldiers can then reuse the bags to put their clothes or whatever in to keep the sand out.
