hello we did punta cana thru liberty travel..ok heres the deal..
1. getting off the plane there was pretty cool..u actually come down the steps onto the tarmac into a "thatched" airport..once u get outside youll get about 50 people trying to get u into their taxi. they will actually grab you by the arm and drag u to their taxi..our driver was nice..and he gave us his # so that we could use him if we decided to leave the resort and explore
2. resort was beautiful..staff was very nice..very clean, food was good, and he variety of fruit was unbelievable. beaches were clean and food ( all inclusive)was always available. some water stuff u do have to pay for but it was worth it.. ok the stuff we didnt like...
3. they allow local vendors to sell their stuff on property and they can be pushy and nasty..we said no to one guy and he pretty much followed us back toward our room with the jewewlry we were looking at..he gave up and cursed at us ( im hispanic so i understood)
4. we did an excursion on quads into the city..bad idea. the poverty was not a fun thing to see while u are trying to enjoy ur vacation..also we werent very popular to the locals..dont think they like the idea of having people touring their town..
5. we did another excursion for 3 hrs on a bus..we were the only ones on it and the places in he brochure were nothing like they described them..run down, boring, etc. ....bottom line if u are the type that just likes to lay on the beach every day, eat, and maybe see a show at nite then its fine but we are the type that like i sight see and this is not a vaction to do that.. i am from puerto rico and think u would have a much nicer time there..thats what we plan to do from now on,,just stick with what we know...
