Help...DH dropped our vision part of our health insurance policy!!!! DH and DS just went in Dec. to have their eyes checked and to get glasses. I did not go, was waiting till the spring. Well...now what do I do???
Has anyone gotten a seperate policy for vision insurance???

I have vision problems and cannot go without contacts or glasses. UGH!!!!!

Any advise would be sooo helpfull!

TIA...Amy

I know of none, maybe someone does. If there was, there would still be a waiting period before use.

Why did he drop it, if you use it? :confused3

call around. We have vision insurance. but rarely use it because they limit where you can go and we have found we pay less using other places without our insurance than we do when we use it.

Yep, same here.
Our vision insurance is actually covered by our medical,
but we never use the vision coverage.
It is much less expensive in the end (we've discovered)
to just go to Lenscrafters for the eye exam and DH's glasses/lenses.
We actually got yelled at the first time we used the coverage,
because the Optometrist was furious we wouldn't buy the
glasses he offered! In addition, he wanted DH to give up his
frames for 2+ weeks while the lab inserted the new lenses.
Ummm... What the heck was DH supposed to do for work
where he does constant close-up electronic 'stuff'??
We walked out, straight back to Lenscrafters, where we'd gone forever,
and DH had his new lenses in one hour...

Before you sink $$ into an insurance plan,
check out Lenscrafters, Pearle, etc...

You may end up paying more in premiums for an individual vision plan then you would in exams, glasses, contacts. You also might not be eligible for an individual plan since your company offers a plan even if you don't take the plan. Check with your ophthalmologist and see if they have information on vision plans.
