Need Ideas: Princess Dress Up Bday Party

I need ideas for a Princess dress up party for my almost 3yr old's bday. It will be right after Halloween (Nov 3), so I thought it would be easy for a lot of her friends to come dressed in either dress up clothes or their costumes if they go as princesses. Any ideas for this?

I thought about a "tea", rent tables, linens, etc. We have LOTS of tea sets, mix and match, but she loves them all the same. I could make small "finger sized" snacks that are 3 yr old friendly.

Definitely wanted to take pictures, maybe with a cool background (I am a painter, so that wouldn't be a problem).

My DD went to a princess b'day party over the summer - they decorated plain wands and crowns with beads, paint glitter pens, sequins, etc, and had a "parade" around the outside of the house for all the grownups. It was so CUTE! For 3 yr olds, you might have to leave off the paint, but they could color paper crowns or something like that! and don't forget a crown for yourself!

I am planning a tea party for DD's 4th birthday in January. I compiled this list of ideas from various websites. Hope this helps!

Invitations - you can cut out teapot-shaped cards, add a bag of tea and send it out

centerpiece, use an old teapot for a flowerpot. Plant pretty flowers in the teapot and place it in the center of the table

pick up very elegant gloves, bright costume jewelry, scarves, boas

scones, jam and mock Devonshire cream! Peanut butter and jelly finger sandwiches or cut into shapes with cookie cutters. Another easy, yummy thing to do is dip maraschino cherries or strawberries into chocolate, let dry on wax paper. (melt chocolate chips in a mug in microwave and stir-the kids like to do the dipping)

serve pink lemonade in fancy glasses

Invitation wording: Tasty cakes and pretty clothes, Dresses with ribbons and hats with bows. Little dainty dishes and cups filled with tea? I’m turning 4 come celebrate with me! attach a small tea "tag" with a string that told the girls to Dress Up and Wear A Hat.

buy straw hats and have the girls decorate at the party with dried flowers, using a glue gun (adult help of course)

Invitations were made by taking a picture of my daughter dressed in a pretty dress and hat serving tea from a tea pot to her teddy bear.

Collect tissue paper rolls – place pearls inside and wrap like Christmas crackers

Place gloves and pearls in little purses

Craft – fold and decorate your own fan/make your own necklace or bracelet with beads

We (I) went way overboard on my toddlers bday party, I spent a ridiculous amount of money & learned that less really is more when it comes to a group of 3 yr olds! I paid a girl to dress as Cinderella & paint faces, had games, a bounce castle, etc etc!!! All the kids wanted to do was play out side w/ each other - i.e. they liked what was free the best!

I would just get a big tub & fill it w/ costume jewelry, boas, etc (these could double as the favors as well) & let the kids bring a costume & accessorize as "play" time together to dress for dinner/cake! Then do pizzas or finger snacks & cake. OR even just cake & presents seems to be fine at that age too! The kids had completely lost interest & were having meltdowns by the time we settled to open presents....

My DD had a princess party last year. I made scroll invites - info on parchment color paper rolled up tied with ribbon. We did a crown craft and played hot frog(hot potato with a frog plush) and musical thrones. The girls were all dressed up, it was great. If you need a copy of the invite PM me.

I had a Princess party for my Daughter's 4th birthday, I made a giant game out of colored paper... it was called beat the clock (and it was based on Cinderella) it's just numbers printed on colored paper (1) and then I put (2 with a little saying like, The evil Stepsisters are after you advance 2 spaced... the guests were the game pieces, so they would hop from one space to the next.... to make this game more interesting (and this is where beat the clock comes in) I made 2 large dice, one with numbers, and an other with a clock and glass slippers... The guest first roll the dice with the slipper or clock on it, and if the get a slipper, they then roll the second dice and move the number rolled... but if they get a clock, they have to move the clock (a clock with hands works best for this) ahead one hour, the object of the game is to get to the end of the game before the clock strikes 12... If you are a lot of guests, you can split your party up or team them up.
Here are some suggestions for what to put on the papers to make it more fun then just numbers:

Oh! The stepmother saw you, go back 1 space,
Your mice friends are helping you, move in front of the pack,
Quick hide, lose a turn etc....

My friend had a princess tea for her dd last year and we attended it. She had each girl dress up in their princess attire, she bought those cute glass slippers (wedding section at Hobby Lobby) and hot glued rhinestones on them and then she got the plastic fluted champagne glass and glued rhinestones on those and wrote each girls name in a paint marker. Each girl had a place setting at the table. For crafts they each had a pumpkin and they painted it in metallic colors and hot glued foam wheels on it to resemble a carriage. They made beaded necklaces with "fairy dust" (cute little bottles with colored sand in them) and then they ate little finger foods and drank pink punch. They had a blast. The mother was also dressed in a princess costume..LOL

I threw a princess party for my daughter's 4th birthday.

Invitations: I cut out a "slipper" and had a "sock" with a little lace on top that came out of the slipper and had all the party details. (In the invitation there was a note to come dressed as your favorite princess.)

For Starters: I bought gold cone-shaped party hats and added tulling to them. As each girl arrived, I had them decorate the hats with jewels (purchased at a craft store).

Games: I had a different game for each princess.

Cinderella: Pin the Crown on Cinderella. My niece drew a big poster size picture of Cinderella and we cut out crowns from poster board with each girls name written on the crown.

Belle: I divided the girls into 2 teams. I gave each team a small tray with a play tea pot and cup and saucer. They had to carry it the length of the room and back to the next person. If something dropped from the tray, they had to stop, put it back on the tray and keep going.

Jasmine: Musical "Carpets". Instead of chairs, I bought cheap fabric at Walmart and cut squares. I frayed the edges so it looked like a carpet.

Sleeping Beauty: I found a dragon pinata or something close to it and we "slayed" the dragon.

Little Mermaid: I turned a box into a treasure chest and filled it with ring pops. Then we went on an adventure to find clues where the box was hidden. (Easy clues that I put in envelopes and taped in various places around the room).

Food: I made a Castle Cake, magic wands (chocolate covered log pretzels and star cookies.

favors: I found little Cinderella purses on clearance at the Disney store and filled them with rings and necklaces.

They all had a great time. My daughter, now 8, still talks about that party!
