Hi Everyone,

I am staying a week at Pop Century next month. We are renting a car and are hoping to do a couple non-disney day trips in the area. Anyone have recommendations. I am not interested in Universal Studios, looking for non park things to see. What beach would be good to visit?

Thanks!
Mel

You always have Cocoa Beach. I believe it's about an 1.5 hours away. Can't really remember, but also try out something like the Space Center.

We love Seaworld, and it is the perfect day trip. We don't do the rides, as we get enough of them with Disney but we love to see the Shamu show, feed the dolphins and the sea lions, see the penguins and the Clyde and Seymour show too. There is a lot or a little to do depending on what you want.

There is always old town, or even fun spot if your interested in arcade rooms or go-cart racing. Or if you want to keep it disney, try downtown disney. For a dinner show try arabian nights...the food wasnt the best but the show was awesome. Hope i helped

St. Augustine is about 90 min away and is a fort and a haunted lighthouse. Also plenty of restaurants. Then of course there is GatorLand. My son loves this place and we have gone there for about 10 years!! For 20.00 you can buy a huge bag of hot dogs to feed the gators, do gator wrestling and a ton of other things.

Worst comes to worse there are the tons of outlet stores.

We were thinking about doing an airboat rental the next time were down, there are quite a few in the area.

If you like to do a little shopping, you could head to Winter Park or to Mt. Dora. Winter Park is more upscale than Mt. Dora. Mt. Dora is more quaint. Great little shops, good places to have lunch. You can also take a cruise on the lakes in the Mt. Dora area.

There are always huge flea markets too.

For beaches, the water will be warmer on the gulf side. Clearwater is really crowded though, you might try Crystal River, or go south around the St. Pete area.
