Our kids (ds-14 & dd-11) have several days off from school 2nd week in Nov. (due to conference days- last year for son having these days off - in HS don't get them)

We were just at WDW & Vero for 11 days over Easter & want to do something different with them (have been going to WDW for 7 yrs now). I looked at Tanque Verde, but they want 81 pts (even during week days) - way, way too many pts (only have 230) - we thought about Disneyland, but way too lame after WDW. We do like the beach & thought about somewhere in the Caribbean, but I figure way to late to book now.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Tks

Have you ever been to the Arizona Biltmore? It's a very nice resort and for your timeframe it would cost you anywhere from 44 to 59 points a night, depending on the acomodations you choose.

I would seriously consider Tanque Verde even though the points are very high. Maybe you could stay there for 2 or 3 nights with points and then pay cash for extra nights or go somewhere else. The Tanque Verde is incredible! We stayed there with points several years ago and thought it would be too expensive, but it was a great value. All the activities (horseback riding, mountain biking, guided and unguided hiking, etc.) and all the meals are included. The meals are restaurant style, and you can order whatever and however much you want. The food was delicious, the rides were great (we did a breakfast ride), and the scenary was absolutely gorgeous. Even though it's the desert, there are lots of plants and animals and birds, and it was really quite lush. There's also lots of other things to do in the area. On our trip we stayed four nights at the Tanque Verde and then drove to the Grand Canyon (a little over 7 hours) and stayed there two nights. We want to go back someday.

I looked at the website, and it looks like it's $450 / day (does that include lodging, food, and activities?).

If so, maybe it's better to pay cash.

What kind of rooms should a family get? Goldi

We used points for our room, but the brochure we picked up while there did say the room rates included everything--lodging, food, activities--everything. You may have to pay a much smaller fee for kids. The room we had was a suite -- really a bedroom with two queen beds and a separate sitting area with a pull out sofa, fireplace, etc. We had two teenagers with us. The room (really a little "hacienda" that had maybe two or three units) was great for us, and the big picture window looked right into the mountain chocked full of saguaros and other desert plants. They had bigger and smaller rooms, too. We went in August (call us crazy!), and there were tons of hummingbirds, other birds, and lots of wildlife. Very, very nice.
