Need honest opinion..ASM or POP?

We are currently booked at ASM and I have been reading some reviews and I am not that impressed so far. Any opinions or suggestions would be great.

I have not been to Pop myself, but my parents stay there when they go in Dec and they say it is way better than Allstars. I think if you do a search here on the boards the consensus is the same.

Do you mean ASMo (movies) or ASMu (music)? If you're talking ASMo then IMO that's the way to go over POP. We stayed at ASMo's in 2005 and POP in 2006. We thought POP was more crowded (but we also thought the parks were more crowded too), we didn't like the cafe as much as ASMo (although we liked filling our mugs with the slushies), and we thought we waited longer for the buses at POP. We enjoyed our stay but we probably won't do POP again.

At ASMo, we loved walking through Andy's room everyday. The pools never seemed crowded, we could always find a place to hang out. The lines in the cafe always seemed out of control over at POP and it was always hard to find someplace to sit. Not the case at ASMo. Just my opinion...

All Star Music is my favorite Disney owned hotel.
It tends to be the quietest of the values.

Here is a list of differences between the two resorts.

Pop is newer.
Pop was built in 2003.
All Star Movies was built in 1999.
All Star Sports and Music were built in 1994.

All Star Music is undergoing a refurbishment of all of the rooms and is slated to be completed by June 2007.

The Calypso and Jazz buildings are completed and the last I heard they are working on the Broadway Buildings.

Pop has a lake. The All Stars do not have a lake.

When staying at the All Stars you use any of the All Stars pools.
The 3 All Stars are within easy walking distance of each other.

The gift shops are separate from the food court at the All Stars.
The gift shop and food court are combined at Pop.

Pop has 2,880 guest rooms. 4 floors in each building.
Each of the All Stars has 1,960 rooms. 3 floors in each building.

Both Pop and the All Star rooms are 260 square feet.

The beds at the All Stars are movable.

the beds at Pop at bolted to the floor.

The far bed at an All Star is closer to wall. And the near bed is not as close to the doorway as it is at Pop

The far bed at Pop is pulled away from the wall more. The near bed is closer to door.

For most people that would not make a difference but since I need an ECV
the bed being so near the door at Pop makes it more difficult for me to back my EVC in.

I would choose POP over any of the AS for very selfish reasons - Better food and no sports teams at POP

pop is a nice resort BUTTTTTTTTT its 4 floors and is the biggest resort of the value..its packed ..i just stayed there and allstar sports..i like the sports resorts..they are smaller les buisy..but still a lot of people..its disney..its crowded where ever you go..but i would take allstarss.

Not sure which resort you are staying at. I stayed at ASMO last year and loved it. This year we are trying ASMU. It has been renovated and I have heard that the rooms are terrific. I stayed at POP 3 years ago and it was not my favorite. It was too big and I liked the themeing better at ASMO.

I have never stayed at the All-Stars but we've been to Pop plenty of times--we really like it! It's got a yummy food court, bus transportation is awesome and the theming is so cute! I'd totally go with Pop!

I have not stayed at either resort, but if I had to pick one I would pick POP as it sounds as if Disney learned from the mistakes at allstars. Also I am not thrilled by staying in any resort with groups of chaperoned children. I go to my resort to unwind at the end of a busy day and POP sounds like a place that I could that very nicely.

I have stayed at both and I am one of the few that prefer the AS. POP seemed very crowded. There were always lines to get food (though getting a seat was not that hard, but there were 8 of us and sometimes we had to split up) We were in a preferred room which was in the first building by the pool, but we were on the 4th floor around the back side. I had two toddlers in a double stroller, a little difficult to maneuver. WE are going in Aug and have the new family suites booked at AS music. If anybody has been in the new suites, I would like to know how they are.

We have stayed at both. Six of one, half dozen of the other. It depends on who is staying there that week, who you are next to, etc.

We favor Pop, however, because it has the lake, the walking path, and the bridge. We also like the Mousekeepers and staff better at Pop. They're perfect - kind, concerned, always smiling.

We've stayed at both and we liked them both. In our opinion, you can't go wrong with any place at Disney. We've never had a bad experience at any resort. I do agree that I didn't care for the foodcourt and gift shop being grouped into one at the pop.
