I have no clue, but it may be better to offer your email address to someone who knows the person in question (via PM, don't post it in the open). They would then give your email to that person and the person would contact you.
Some people are (rightfully) skittish about giving out other people's contact info without that person's consent. Doing it this way would be a bit more considerate of the person you are trying to contact, as you are not requesting someone else to possibly break trust with their info, but giving that trust to someone else with your own. It's a minor semantic difference, but, at least for me, could make quite a bit of difference.
I know that I personally wouldn't give out someone else's info if asked for it, unless that person specifically told me it was ok.
