Can someone help with ideas for transfers? We will be flying into LAX, spending 2 days at the park and then heading for the Disney Magic for the Mexican Riviera cruise. Disney tranfers are $25 pp for each transfer so for a family of 4 we are looking at $300.

Would we be better renting a car or hiring a towncar to do all the tranfers?

Thanks!

Beth

We are going to be flying into LAX for our upcoming trip in November and then spending 3 nights at DL, then going on a cruise departing from Los Angeles (San Pedro). There will be three of us.

After alot of research, I found that it was way cheaper for us to just rent a car, keeping it the length of our trip (parking at San Pedro pier while we are on our 4 night cruise), and then driving back to LAX for our flight home. We have an evening flight home after our cruise, so we plan on doing some touring of LA before our flight home.

Dollar car rental is about $100 for a compact car for a week. If we were to each pay for shuttles/cabs it would cost triple of what it is costing us to rent a car! It seems kind of silly to pay for a car for the length of our trip--but, it's cheaper. This way, we will be able to come & go without having to wait for shuttles, etc. I think that it costs about $12 a day to park at the pier.

I looked into doing one-way car rentals, but it still works out cheaper to keep the car for the entire time.

Hope this helps!

Maybe someone else will post some more info for you!

We are also beginning to explore if we should rent a car or take the shuttle. When we leave from Floriday we rent a car for 24 hours and pick up rental again a week later for our stay at WDW.

Now we are flying in the day before (staying at Holiday Inn), taking the Magic cruise and then drive to Disneyland to spend three nights here. We need to know where can we pick-up and drop-off rental car before and after cruise or just do this once after the cruise. We are a family of five and the car would be nice too for some exploring (not sure if it's worth the hassle for 24 hours before the cruise).

Beth - please post with your decision- I am curious as to what most people are doing - of course it's what works best for each family. Thanks.
