Need help with my use year....and stuff...

Ok here is the setup...

Member with 180 points.....use year October..

I have 0 points left this use year.

I have 0 points available next use year. (all either reserved or sold)

The question:

If I wanted to book a room next May (2003)....am I availble today to borrow from my use year starting October 2003 for the May 2003 trip? (I ask because this is, as of today, technically over 2 use years away)
If not, when can I set these borrowed points up? (I assume it would be October 1, when I will be officially borrowing from the 'next' use year.)

Anyone confused?

As long as you are within your 11-month or 7-month reservation window, you can borrow the points.

Yes you can.

There is a simple rule.

On the day of the reservation, will you have points?

Wether you can borrow from the next year, have some left from the prior year or current, all that matter is the points for the day of the reservation.

What about making the reservation, when can I make the reservation?

Different rule.

7-11 month rule, that's it! No consideration of point, use year, or anything.

You combine those two rules, when you can make the reservation and will you have points. To figure anything out.

There is some odd thing about two years, borrowing, and some time limt that doesn't quite allow you to use points from very far out for an eleven month ressie....I am not clear on that one, I thinnk it was even rescinded. Its not something that ever ccomes up, but we have heard of it and I have been puzzled.

If it was rescinded, don't worry, if not, I bet Doc knows what I am talking about....if he doesn't, it makes two of us.

You may have to wait until Oct 1 to borrow those points. I would certainly suggest challenging MS (ask to speak to a supervisor) if they insist, but the way the contract is worded "Club Members may Borrow up to one hundred percent (100%) of their allotted Home Resort Vacation Points from their next Use Year into their cuurent Use Year.", you may have to wait until you are borrowing into the current Use Year...Oct 1, 2002.

This could be interpreted that, until Oct -your next use year- you may only borrow from the 02-03 Use Year into the current (01-02) Use Year.

It may also depend on the CM you talk with, so if you get a negative response on the first try, call back and try again.

I think Doc is correct. But I think the real problem is with the programming software of MS computers. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the computer will not do this because it is thinking that it is skipping over a use year before Oct. 1 of 2002. If you wait until Oct. 1, 2002 the software will do this.

I think even if MS would want to do this, the software would not let them do it.
