I bought something and have yet to receive the item. The seller is doing very well to communicate with me and has told me if the item is not received today, they will give me a full refund. Now I don't have a paypal account. I just paid through paypal using the link through ebay. How will the funds be given to me?

Will I have to sign up for paypal or will they automatically go to my credit card or even have a sort of paypal or ebay credit?

Thanks!

If you clicked through the Paypal link on the auction to make payment, you probably had to establish a Paypal account to complete the transaction. If the money is refunded by the seller, it will go into that Paypal account. You can either use the funds to make other purchases; link your Paypal account to your bank account and transfer the funds to your bank account; or you can request a check to be sent to you (a small fee is involved)

Your seller should have a tracking number already for you.

Its required on all transactions using paypal. Make sure they are not just stalling you past the deadline - 45 days.

If you paid with a credit card the refund should directly go back on your credit card.

Also, try calling paypal. Unlike eBay they have wonderful customer service!

I hope that helps!

Nope I didn't have to establish a paypal account. I just let me use my credit card although it did ask me to establish one. I don't mind if I have to use them to make other purchases because I will need to purchase a replacement anyway.

Has anyone had experience with this and know how long before the money is avail? I was told the money would be refunded to me in 24 hours if the item is not received today. Another auction ends in 3 days for the same item that I am needing to buy and am wondering if the money will be available by then.

THanks so much!!

ETA:
The seller did not get a tracking number, she sent item media mail and that was about 3 weeks ago. It really should have been here by now.

I would think it would be credited back to your credit card. It would take however long it normally takes for a credit to appear on your card.

3 weeks media mail - that about normal, but still should have a tracking number available to you.

(I'm a Top rated, Silver Power Seller)

If I was the buyer, I'd file a INR (Item not received) right now with eBay. The seller HAS to provide tracking. You can escalated immediately to get the refund going.

It sounds like your being put off here.

Honestly, refunds to a credit card can take a bit to process. Have you thought about opening a paypal acct and using your card through that?

Well if it doesn't show up in today's mail I will contact seller. Seller gave me their personal phone number through email and I talked to them yesterday and I was told I would be refunded money.

I am wondering how long I should wait to before I see any money. Seller has been great in the communication department and has always replied quickly to emails. They told me they have insurance on the item but sent it media mail and was told by USPS that there are no tracking numbers for media mail. I am assuming they didn't purchase delivery confirmation.

Such a headache. The item is CPA review materials that I really would like to have had already - especially at the cost of $800!! And I may have to go through this all again - sigh!

Whoa!

This is a $800 transaction?

That changes things, alot really!

All paypal transactions over $250 including shipping require a signature.

Also, tracking is available on medial mail, I do it through paypal shipping at least 10 a month.

....and insurance cover the SELLER not the buyer.

OMG, I'm freaking out for you!

Okay, if I were the buyer.. I'd call your credit card and dispute the charges!

Can I ask how long its been since you purchased this?

If the sale was $800 I would immediately open a dispute with paypal. Since you don't have a paypal account though and paid via CC then just go straight to the CC.

I WAS going it say it was perfectly normal for it to take atleast 3 weeks media mail but the amount has me uneasy, especially without a tracking #. They would have something saying that thing was mailed!

Not necessarily. Media mail is the SLOWEST form of mail. I've had delivery take as little as 3 days and as much a 6 weeks.

The seller is required to provide a tracking number to prove delivery (a Paypal requirement for sellers). Without that, the seller would be forced to refund the money to the buyer.

Oh, I just saw the purchase price. Yes, SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION is required by Paypal on items greater than $250. And that is available for Media Mail items.

Delivery confirmation is the "tracking" number (even though it does not track, just proves delivery).

Delivery confirmation is available on media mail items - I purchase it all the time as an eBay seller.

Just so you know, Media Mail can and does take longer that 3 weeks. It is the LAST type of mail to make it on a mail truck to go from point A to point B.

Wow! It was $800 and she sent it MEDIA MAIL?!? With no delivery confirmation? No signature required? What was she thinking?!? I would have sent it by Priority Mail or UPS. Is it just me, or does it seem rather odd that she is "rolling over" on such an expensive item and refunding your money so quickly?

I don't even agree that Media Mail should take 3 weeks! I often ship textbooks I sell on Amazon, use media mail, and they still make it there in 1-3 days after I drop off at the post office. How far is the distance here? Even from NC to TX it only took my media mail 3 days to be delivered; NC to DC only 2 days. And I used Delivery Confirmation; it is definitely available. I think you are being scammed and should start a dispute asap.

Well ... my experience is much different. I have sold books on Amazon for years and I have had Media Mail take a REALLY long time. Even Amazon estimates delivery to be 4-14 BUSINESS days (not counting the weekends) from the shipping date. I think you have just been lucky with your use of Media Mail. You are right about delivery confirmation, though. I use it for higher priced books but even that is pretty useless. It's not like a UPS tracking number and Amazon won't do diddly if the buyer says they didn't get a book even if your DC shows it was delivered.

Well supposedly it is going from NV to MI and it was "sent out" Tuesday, Feb 16th. So I am thinking it definatly should have been here by now.

If I don't receive it in today's mail (which should be here in about an hour). I will contact the seller and start a dispute with eBay. I was never given a tracking number and one doesn't even show up under the items I've won.

I guess since I don't have a paypal account, I don't know where I should start a dispute, through eBay, my credit card or paypal. The seller has had good communication with me and I have sent all questions/concerns through ebay via the contact seller link and have kept all emails from the seller.

I really am just hoping it will show up today so I don't have to deal with this or wait forever and a day to get my money back.

Has anyone had experience with getting their money back, the process, how long it took, was it a hassle or anything?

Thanks

I've gotten my money back through Paypal within 48 hours once the seller told Paypal that they didn't have proof of delivery. I don't know how it works without a Paypal account though.

That's not 3 weeks. That's only 12 business days and still within an expected delivery time for something sent Media mail to get to you from Nevada.

What does the terms of sale say? Did the seller include an estimated delivery date? You cannot file a claim through eBay until 3 days after the estimated delivery or 7 days after the purchase if no delivery date was mentioned. Even then, the seller has 7 days to respond. So ... I would not expect this issue to be resolved in the next couple of days.

Under the estimated delivery time, it should have been here last Friday. It said estimated delivery time of Feb 17-26. They said they talked to the postmaster and the postmaster said it should have been here. The seller mentioned they think it is lost in the mail.

The paypal account said it was NV, but the area code of the phone number that was sent to me in an email is near Manhattan, NY. So I guess I don't know where it is coming from.

The seller did tell me to contact them today if I didn't receive the items and they would refund me the full amount within 24 hours. I guess since they have insurance, no harm for them because they will get the money back that they would have to refund me.

They have been good in the communication department, I'd just really like my item and not want to wait in limbo for a long time...

Call your credit card company to be sure how long you have to dispute the charge and make sure you don't go over that deadline (regardless of what you're told).

I find it bizarre that someone would send an $800 item media mail with no tracking information. I've sold items that cost that much, and there's no way I would leave myself open to that kind of loss. If they have insurance on it, then they would have some type of tracking as well. That's just crazy. :sad2:

Then you are within your time period for filing under eBay :). I hope things work out for you! You are lucky you have a cooperative seller.

Honestly, I think the seller is an idiot :sad2:. Her delivery timeline was insane for Media Mail and if she thinks she can just file an insurance claim and easily get her money back she is mistaken. The post office won't do a thing for her until 30 days passes and she will have to start a trace before she can start her insurance claim. It will be weeks before she gets her money back and in the meantime the item still has a very good chance to being delivered to you.
