I have checked the member website (which still lists 2010 as the dates) and Mousesavers and I am confused. I am not a golfer but there will be golfers on our family trip in October. If I buy a DVC golf badge (is it still $50?) can I book myself and 3 family members for a 40% discount on after 10:00 round, but then I would not actually golf but they would? I think it would still be a savings. Or maybe there is another WDW golf discount that is just as good? TIA for any help.

The DVC golf membership is $ 50 and good for 1 year, it will expire the last day of the month in which you purchased it.
You cannot use it for your guests only, you must also be playing.
That also applies to the AP discounts

There are two round discounts at times for resort guests, that don't require any membership, which can be a pretty good deal.

Keep an eye on the Golf Website for any promotions.

I was thinking that I could pay for a round for myself but just not play.
I will watch for offers online. We aren't going until Oct. 22 and those rates aren't even listed yet. But the golfers in our family are already chomping at the bit (must be that L-O-N-G Minnesota winter!)

With DVC discount, time of day you play is important. The annual card is $50 and discount is 40% for after 10 times and 25% for before ten. That is a percentage off the WDW resort guest rate. For after 10 that is usually the best one you can do. For before 10 it usually is not. Disney Golf always has a two-round discount where you pay for two rounds up front and then play two different days. The price of that per round is very close to what you get with the DVC discount and you don't have to buy the $50 annual card to get it. Thus, if you are going to play an even number of rounds it is usually the one to use for before 10 rounds.
