Need Help with Disney DVD Platinum Series, UPDATE POST #7

Hi everyone!! DH bought me the Dumbo DVD and Aladdin DVD over the weekend and we noticed in the Dumbo DVD they mentioned that Beauty & The Best, Snow White & the 7 Dwarves and Lion King were all released on DVD in the PLATINUM series. DH even found these movies on Amazon.com. However, when he attempted to purchase them, the website said they were not yet available. Anyone know about this???

They have been released, but are now back in the vault. I don't know when they are suppose to be released again though.

Disney releases movies for a limited time and then puts them "in the vault".

Sadly both Snow White and Beauty and the Beast were put back in the "vault" long ago and are out of print. I have seen them at used DVD stores and even some new copies at couple smaller stores. However, those smaller stores know they are out of print and charge $50 for them.

I believe some of the other Platinum DVD's are out of print as well, but it's been recently enough that they are not as hard to find.

Try some of the places that carry used DVD's. I've seen copies before and they didn't want anymore for them than the other used DVD's.

The unofficial standard I have heard is five years. Snow White and BatB were the first Platinum releases and I believe their five year "vault" status could end in 2007.

As an exmaple, Toy Story 1 and 2 went into the vault after being released on DVD and were re-released again at the end of last year.

Believe it or not there are other greats that are also currently in the OOP vault. Pinocchio, Peter Pan, The Jungle Book, and 101 Dalmations just to name a few.

DH & I went onto Ebay last night and were able to bid on all 3 and got them!!! All 3 are brand new and still in the factory packaging. i am so excited!!!! can't wait to get them!!!!
