Need help with Cutting Costs PLEASE

I really appreciate these tips! I didn't know anything about saving money on these things until I came here and this thread is fantastic! I had only seen the Disney Trip Planning DVD they send in the mail so I priced Disney that way. Now I know, through all of you, how to save! Have a great night;)

Well, now I'm really confused. Once I added up all her costs it was $1873.00 and her budget was $2000 total, right???

Did I miss something?? I guess she was hoping for more "play" money for souvenirs and such??

Not that it really matters since she has decided not to go....

Anyway....

I do think that all the tips everyone has offered were well thought out and did offer several ways to save.

You see, you treat people how others treat you. Before I got "rude" about everything others were being rude to me first. And who ever said I wasn't appreciative of what other's said is wrong. I listened to what they had to say, it just didn't work out for my "low stress environment." But the thing is, people get repetitive, and say the same thing over and over again, that's what gets annoying.

BeckyWhy,

Sorry you feel that others have been rude. Personally, I try to always be positive! The folks here are (at least some) absolute experts at milking a dollar ten out of every Disney dollar. We take every request for cost-cutting info as someone who wants to "make it happen any way posible." The continuence of your replies to the thread suggest to the trained eye that your needs from a trip are best met by onsite-packages, and believe me, if the FTP doesn't cut it for you, you'll not find a package that makes you happy. Better off spending that hard-earned cash on something within the budget-for-return ratio with which you feel comfortable.

I personally would sleep in my car for a week, shorten my trip, eat Mickey D's, walk from MCO, or any other measure if it would close the gap between maximum cash available and minimum cash needed. On the other hand, when bucks allow, I enjoy the Poly and limo service. As a result, I can "find the trip" at any budget from a grand to five grand (the spread on trip costs over the past twenty years). That's my mentality.

I think folks here perceived you were either looking for a way to cut the cost of the FTP (there isn't any, the price is almost unprecedented for a Disney package), or were just complaining (understandable, I often find myself po'd at Disney prices). The group here focuses on making the dream happen, even if it means cutting corners. If that information can't help you, here's hoping you get what you're looking for out of your vacation dollars, even if it's a new stereo!

I'm sorry, but I don't see where ANYONE was rude to you - until you started flipping out (look back at your post on the Food Costs thread) and when you had a totally negative reaction to everything that the posters here suggested that WOULD cut costs for you..

If going to Disney World is going to cause you this much stress - and you yourself have stated that you need a "low stress environment" - then it would probably be best if you didn't go at all.. Actually, I think you already DID say you wouldn't be going at all "unless something really bad happened between you and your boyfriend" - and therefore no one needed to post on your threads anymore..

I'm so sorry if it's annoying when people get prepetitive and keep saying the same things over and over, but you know what? The reason they're doing it is because they CAN'T change what the realities are.. You either need to make the necessary adjustments; pay the amount that has to be paid to get exactly what you want; or not go at all..

People have spent a lot of time and effort responding to your plea for help.. They have posted links - they have actually written up budgets for you - and they have made a zillion and one suggestions - none to your liking.. I don't know what else there is that they can do for you..

Your situation is no different than anyone elses here.. You need to decide EXACTLY what it is that you MUST have - and then come up with the money to pay for it.. Being obstinate will NOT lower the costs of your vacation, so the choice is yours..

Hey you must live nearby! We live in Rochester and are also going in July. We got tickets out of Rochester for four of us for only 549 total, with only 1 connect. We are choosing to fly out on a Tuesday which says a bundle!

Lots of great cost-cutting ideas on this thread- even if the OP is unappreciative of them!
I can relate to what some people have said also. There are times when we plan on not worrying about what we spend (like our last family trip and our upcoming family trip) and there are times when we go on a "budget" and cut costs as much as possible (like my solo trip in the past and POSSIBLY a trip with just my oldest daughter before our next family trip). One being staying onsite at the value resort with AP discount and using Mears (which was fine for myself- took about an hour to get there and getting to the airport about an hour before flight- but it was worth it because I didn't need a vehicle while there- just used WDW transportation) and if we go on our mother/daughter trip we'll stay offsite very cheap, with continental breakfast- no vehicle using shuttles that are free, and using our APs. We'll eat cheap also since it's just me and her and not my younger "grazing" children that a lot of money on meals gets wasted or we have to bring lots of snacks to the parks and our room also/etc.
It just has to be a decision you make for yourself. Some would prefer to have another trip regardless of the budgeting that has to go on or how you have to save money- while others prefer to ONLY go if they have enough money saved up for the trip to do whatever they want/spend whatever without worrying about it. For me I like it both ways. I like going sometimes NOT on a tight budget at all- and little extra trips where I cut costs a lot so I can go more often. :)
