Howdy!

My Father is wanting to surprise my mother with a concierge (spelling) visit. We have done some research and know that if you stay at AKL that it is possible to be on floor 5 and the lounge be on floor 6. He does not want that. He also knows that the WL does not have a "lounge" area, and he does not want that. No offense to those who like the GF, but my father is not a fan of that resort. What other resorts does any one suggest? Thank you in advance!

Chris

I would suggest the Polynesian. We are headed there in just under two weeks for Garden View Concierge :earsboy:

I would suggest the BWI! It is my all time favorite place to stay. The lounge and rooms are on the 4th floor. You can either have a BW view or a garden view, which I like. The garden view overlooks the quiet pool area and it so pretty. The cast here are just the best. It is walking distance to Epcot and and nice boat ride to the studios. I like to walk to the studios also. There are some great places to eat and it is just an all round great place to stay.

YC concierge is great and the itinerary planning office there is superb!! They'll help you with anything and they're fast, knowledgable and so friendly. It's a relaxing resort and the water view overlooking Crescent Lake and the Boardwalk is hard to beat!!

The Poly Concierge is great. You are near everything and the service and lounge is wonderful. It is our favorite because of the relaxed tropical atmosphere.

If they don't like the tropical atmosphere, you might suggest the YC. We were there in May and it is the nicest resort I have ever stayed at. The service was great. The Concierge Lounge was fabulous. It is a beautiful understated and elegant hotel, that is within walking distance of Epcot and a short boat ride from MGM. They would love it. You could also try its sister hotel, Beach Club, which is very nice as well. Jay

I agree with KerryCM about the BWI. If your dad would book a deluxe concierge room, make sure he requests fourth floor, as there are some rooms on the third. The resort is beautiful and the staff is simply amazing.

Polynesian Resort has a GREAT concierge lounge and the Beach Club offers some great service in their concierge lounge as well, but in a vote.... I'd go with the Polynesian Resort.

Good Luck!

I have to give my vote for two resorts. The Polynesian and the YC. The Poly is great because it's all in 1 building and it's easy to get to from any floor that you are on. If it's also a "romantic" getaway the atmosphere would be really nice. We had a room on the 3rd floor and you could lay in bed and watch the castle change colors. It was great since MK is our "Favorite" park.

The Yacht Club is also great. It's all on the top floor and it's a very bright and airy resort. The CM's where great and the pool and hot tub is nice. This would be # 2 for us since we don't spend a lot of time at Epcot. If your parents are into the boardwalk they might like that one.

As for comparing. That's a tough one. The poly has a more Asian food variety, but the YC has a more American variety. The Evening Cordials (sweets) we liked the YC's much better. The YC club has a pastry chef that we would love to bring home with us.
So, I guess it's all in what your parents want but my vote is for either the Poly or YC.

You have an awesome Dad for wanting to surprise Mom. Can he call my husband?:hyper:

i too would vote for the poly... it's all in one building (hawaii) so even if you are on another floor it's not like you're walking a mile to find concierge.. also, you can sit either in the concierge lounge or on the beach and watch the fireworks over the magic kingdom.. (very romantic) you have the choice of lagoon view or garden view and the price is different between the two..

you have access to the monorail.. ohana's is a great place to eat!!! you should check out tikiman's site to see all he says about concierge.. he's got pics and pros and cons of staying there..

we're staying there in august our 3rd? stay at the poly conceirge.. we love it.. we're splitting our stay this time between the BWV and poly.. but, we're staying at the poly at the end of our trip, to end on a high note.. :hyper:

What we prefer about the Poly is that the Concierge is in one building that is only 3 floors. This makes it very convenient to get to the pool and beach. While we loved the YC Concierge (as posted above), we did not like the trek down the elevator and through the lobby to get to the pool. Plus YC is a bit formal and I felt a little out of place walking around it in a bathing suit. Still, botha re great resorts. Jay
