Need help with cheap phone plan

Our cell phone contract is up - we have been paying $80 a month for 2 phones - we do not text and use about 120 minutes a month total for 2 phones.

What's the best way to go for just a basic phone with no bells or whistles.

Thinking tracfone, but wanted to check with the experts.

We have Consumer Cellular which is a wonderful company! Their customer service reps are so nice. Best part imo is No contracts! We pay $45.94 a month for the family plan we chose. I think we share 400 minutes but it might be 600. We never get close to the limit so I'm just not sure. The coverage area is excellent as they use AT&T cell towers. We do not text either. If you want fewer minutes than we have, you can choose a cheaper plan.

I have a tracfone. I pay less than $100/year - my DH pays even less as he uses his phone less.

If you go with tracfone - get one that has double minutes for life. That means every time you add 60 min you actually get 120 min.

I just ordered a new tracfone for me - I got the samsung (I think) slider. It was 39.99 and I found an online code for $3 so I got it for 36.99 plus tax.

It hasn't arrived yet - I wasn't home when fedex tried to deliver. I will go pick it up today.

I'm switching to Straight Talk - it's by Tracfone. It's a PHENOMINAL deal for anyone that uses 300 or more minutes a month (may not work for OP because she uses just over 100).

They have only 2 plans:

$30/month for 1000 minutes, 1000 texts (including picture texts) and 30mb of data

or

$45/month for UNLIMITED minutes, texts and data!

Phones start at only $20.00!!!

I use Straight Talk.

My DH, who uses around 100 minutes a month, uses Page Plus. http://www.pagepluscellular.com/Online Store/Minutes.aspx

From what I understand, both plans use Verizon towers. We both have good reception overall.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking about Straighttalk. This is definitely the plan for my DS.

Does anyone have a phone plan with Cricket? Is this a sub-company of Verizon?
