Our first day in the park we will be at Magic Kingdom and having breakfast at Crystal Palace. Where is a good restaurant close by to go to for dinner. We will be celebrating my Father in law's birthday. I would like to go to a resort that is easy to get back to Magic Kingdom in case we come back for the fireworks. I have considered Ohana's but never really had a good experience there. The food is never that good and it is VERY LOUD. Any idea's??

there are lots of places - is budget a concern? Or credits if on a dining plan?

There are Signature Restaurants in the area

WL - Artist Point
CR - California Grill
GF - Narcoossee
Citrico

Casual - in park
The Plaza

WL - WCC - can be boisterous :yay:
CR - The Wave
Poly - Kona and Ohana (and I agree with your experience:sick:)
GF - GF Cafe - very nice interior, menu pretty good (beef not so hot)

Good luck planning!

At Poly I like Ohana when there is a group of us but Kona then its just me and DW.

What about staying in MK and eating dinner at Tony's?

That would be a nice idea, then after dinner you could come out to a wonderful view of the fireworks.

Another option would be to jump on the boat to WL and eat at the Whispering Canyon Cafe. We love the food there.

Grand Floridian Cafe - very nice, regular TS restaurant (not 2 credits), good food, services, and setting. Take the small boat from the MK to the GF, walk past the pool to the main building, eat, repeat in reverse.

I would suggest one of the following:
Konas, GF Cafe, Narcoosees, Citricos (wonderful restaurant)
Check out the menus at www.allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm

Sadly MK restaurants are just ok, nothing great for a sit down dinner. Cindy's and Tony's have gone down hill and LTT is good for lunch. I would definitely do a resort.

We had one of our most favorite meals at Kona (loved the porkchop.)
And had very memorable evening walking the beach and then watching the fireworks from a hammock. It was so much more relaxing and magical then fighting the crowds in the park.

So I suggest Kona.

The WAVE at CR is quiet right on the monorail. Food is excellent and jump right back on monorail and view wishes at MK. :dance3:

We love Kona Cafe--the Tuna Oscar is so good--and the desserts are yummy. It is a nice easy ride by monorail to and from MK.
Our last trip we had a wonderful meal at GF Cafe and the room is very beautiful

I really recommend The Wave at the Contemporary! It is so good and the atmosphere is beautiful.

Citricos at the GF is a favorite for our family. Our kids (ages 10 and 14) have already requested to return there on our trip this November. It's usually fairly quiet and the food is delicious. The service is first rate. This would be a wonderful place for your father-in-law's birthday celebration. ::MinnieMo

the wave in contemp is quiet and off the beaten monorail track (or at least it was when we were there). i also enjoyed artists point but keep in mind signature dining experiences take more time.

I would say The Wave or Narccoossee's at GF. We have had wonderful quiet meals at both.

This is what I was gonna suggest also unless you were really set on going to a resort restraunt.
Magical Wishes:wizard:

Narcoossees's is at the top of my list.. and if you book ahead, you can ask for a time that will coincide with Wishes. They pipe in the music to the restaurant. I've always enjoyed their menu, and the servers are top notch!

The Kona Cafe is another favorite, and that would present you with the option of watching Wishes from the Poly Beach. You get a fantastic view of the fireworks, and the music carries over the lake.

THe Wave is what I believe to be WDW's newest best kept secret. Beautiful interior. The menu listed on wdwinfo.com unfortunately doesn't show what I had, but everything I've ordered has been yummy!

My in-laws really liked the Grand Floridian Cafe. The food and service were very good. They especially liked the beauty of the resort and the orchestra playing music in the lobby.

It's a monorail or boat ride from MK.
