I need to contact an attorney in the very near future. We hired a contractor 2 years ago to frame in a 2nd floor, tons of problems, we fired him, my DH finished the rest of the work and the city dept was satisfied.
Now, we're taking down walls downstairs to improve living space (contractor knew this and built accordingly) and have uncovered major support issues.
We were going to sue him then, but felt we needed toget rid of him my DH just sucked it up and absorbed the labor and cost....but now, it's scary because the houses' support is an issue and we're extremely nervous. Of course the house is still standing and no cracks upstairs anywhere in sheetrock, etc...making us realize a problem, it wasn't until recently we are uncovering issues everywhere downstairs that will exhaust us emotionally, physically and financially.
Please advice as to which type of attorney I should contact once we are ready to move forward? I wonder if if I have some type of recourse with his insurance company? I don't know...
Any advice which way to go would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
