We usually go to the mountains near Asheville in July and do have a condo booked. I was able to get a great deal on a two bedroom at Old Key West for the same time period. What is available to do at Old Key West if we are not going to do the Theme Parks. We will do the water parks. Do they have activities for the kids, etc. Charges? Community Hall? Fishing? I have 7 and 11 year olds. We just returned from a week at Hilton Head and enjoyed it so much. December is the time we usually go and we stay at Boardwalk or Villas of Wilderness Lodge.

Thanks,
Becky

I know there are mini gold places, and DTD has Lego stuff. Lots of stuff to see. There are rentals for boats in the lagoon in front of DTD. I'm not sure about the resort, but I think it would be similar to HH. I'm sure someone else would know better. The campground also has events, I think. There is really lots of stuff!

Hi Becky,

Maybe if you edit your subject line to include OKW, some of the OKW experts on the board will spot your post quicker. Have a great trip!!

A seven and an eleven year old and you aren't going to go to the parks? You may need more than ideas from this board to convince them it's a good idea. Good luck, especially if you go and they get that Magic Kingdom look on their faces.:earseek:

Thanks for all of the replies so far. Actually we are going to the water parks and were just at the theme parks last December. We like to go when it is a little cooler. My two kids are ready to go now. I was hoping someone had some info on the activities at Community Hall or the resort during the week. We just returned from Hilton Head and the kids loved the resort. So much that they did not want to go to the beach. I should add that they had just spent a week with my mom and dad at another beach in SC. The Unbirthday party, meeting Shadow, the CMs were just great. I was hoping to get some info about the activities at the resort.

Thanks,
Becky

You can rent boats at OKW and go up to DD or in the other direction to Port Orleans and Dixie Landings (sorry I am a traditionalist!) It is possible to do each comfortably in an hour. Both in an hour if you push it.

Community Hall does have a weekly unbirthday party. They do daily activities like crafts and games. You can rent bikes, boats, watermice. You can play volleyball, basketball, tennis etc. You can go on the weekly fishing excursion and I have seen people fishing in the little ponds there too. Take the boat to DD and walk around there or eat. You can pool hop to the new SSR and use the slide there and only have to take the short ride on a boat. I would say all the activities are there you have enjoyed before except the beach so go to BB and you have that covered too! My 8 and 9 year old love it there.

Don't forget about all the activities @ Fort Wilderness. Fishing, horseback riding, petting zoo, etc. And of course, the campfire program. S'mores and a Disney movie under the stars...what a great night that would be. Have fun !!!
