Need help re Transfers

Here is the problem. My DW decided she wants to run the half next year, so we will book a studio for 4 nites. We were planning on bringing friends with us during March break 2010 in a 2 bedroom. Since our UY is June I needed to borrow all our 2010 pts for that trip. Now we will be short and need to find some pts. What is the best plan of action? How hard will it be to get Mid March for other resorts if my home isn't available. My brain is going to explode trying to figure it all out. If I'm unable to find a pt transfer from my home resort, do I just wait until the 7 month mark to attempt a reservation? I'd hate to not be able to get anything.
