Need Help Please

Taking my girls and their BFF to WDW in December. This will be the girls 20 something trip but one friend has never been and one friend has been only once. I have watched as many videos as i can and the girls (all 4 of them) are game for doing a video. Im sure it wont be as fantastic as the Dancing Wolfs, but we will try. That being said I am really computer/software/video illiterate. So between now and then, I need to get up to speed on how to do something so that I can come home and put it all together. That's where yall come in...point me in the direction of "an idiot's guide to creating videos"

i have a MAC and a nikon d3100. and a VERY old video recorder. might be able to talk wonderful hubby into a new video recorder for Christmas.

I am very much on the amateur side of all this, but if you have a Mac, then you already have everything you need to create simple videos in iMovie, which lets you combine still photos, video footage, and music. I made a video of our March 2010 trip and it was a lot of fun. I'm sure there are comparable programs for Windows, but I don't know what they are or how much they cost.

iMovie is very easy to use. I'd go that way if it's your first video. Do make sure your older camera can connect to your computer. How old is old?

You may not need that extra video camera since your D3100 has full HD video abilities however there is no continous autofocus with the DSLR. depends on how you think the video will work. If you and your subject stay a set distance away the lack of auto focus wont be a problem and you can always anually focus if needed. extra bateries and memory may be cheaper than a new video camera.
