Need help planning....

We'll be heading to DL Tuesday, June 7th... arriving around 6pm and staying at HoJo's through the following Monday. I'd like to take a side trip to Knott's Berry Farms, but wondering which day would be best for that. I'm also considering a second side trip to Universal Studios, but wondering which day would be good for that, or if that would be too much. We've been to Universal (the last time was about three years ago), so it wouldn't be horrible if we didn't make it there; however, we haven't been to Knott's, so that's a must.

I know that there are a couple of Grad Nights while were at DL, but I don't know if that should play into the days we consider for our side trip(s). We'll have 5-day hopper passes, so no matter what, we'll be able to go into the parks in the late evenings when we return from our side trip(s).... especially since I believe the parks (at least Disneyland) will be open until midnight just about even night we're there.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

While I personally love Knotts, I don't go in with the same expectations that I have of a Disneyland day. Many people will go to Disneyland and then go to Knotts for a day in the middle, and they are disappointed that it's not...well, Disneyland. Which it's not. But that's doesn't mean you can't have fun there.

I recommend going to Knotts first or early in the trip. If not, at least go in with the right perspective, so that you aren't really comparing and unsatisfied all day. They are two wonderful places that, although lumped into the "amusement/theme park" category, offer completely different things.
