Need help on getting AP with dining plan! (long post)

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post the question...but I hope the veterans could help me on this...sorry for the long post...TIA to everyone!

DBf and I currently have a 7-day MYW park hopper ticket reserved with our package in May. Our package includes the dining plan. We are thinking of getting upgrading our tickets to APs since we might be going back again this year. I came up with the following:

1) Upgrading the 7-day MYW parkhopper to 10-day parkhopper with no expiration for $172.
2) Upgrading the 7-day MYW parkhopper to AP for $190, but my only worry is that we cannot get our dining plan in that case.

So my question is, can we get a 1-day MYW parkhopper for our package (so we can get the dining plan), and then upgrade the ticket to an AP when we get to the resort?

I would upgrade to the AP on my last day with the 7-day tickets you bought. They'll apply the price of the 7-day tickets to your AP. That way, it won't cost you any more money.

Can we upgrade the 7day MYW ticket sometime during the trip so we can get the AP benefits at the parks? Will that cancel our dining plan?

I've heard that it is a little more complicated during the trip - as opposed to after it. I've changed one day base tickets into credit for AP's, but not until after my trip was over.

I upgraded my 5 day w/ PArk Hopping ticket on the second day of my free dining trip last year. I did this at the Magic Kingdom front gate and had no problem at all. That being said I did hear tales of other people having their dining credits cancelled once they upgraded.

I called & asked the same question a few days ago. I was told you can keep the dining plan once you upgrade,no problem, just mention it when you check in your resort.

You can't upgrade at the resort though - it needs to be at guest relations in DTD or a park.

Not the resort, at park guest services. You aren't going to lose your dining plan, if you have a package that includes it. But it will be whether you can change the PH to an AP right away.

We upgraded our myw pass to ap during our nov 06 trip with the dining plan and we had no problems with losing our credits.
