Ok, Don't flame me, :hyper: but we decided to take a vacation somewhere other than WDW this year.

I've always wanted to go to a place with a clean, clear breathtaking ocean. You know, like on TV the people are in the water up to their chests & can still see their feet clearly. I want to bask on the beach during the day & just relax! Any suggestions???

Thanks in advance!!!!! :D

You don't say if you are considering places outside of the USA, but if so I would suggest Grand Cayman. We were there for a day on our 10/11/03 cruise and we all agreed that we could spend an entire vacation there. The water was beautiful, the people were friendly and there were some lovely resorts. I'd definitely recommend it!

St. John, USVI It is breath-taking. Much of the island is a National Forest so it is not as sommercialized as many of the other Carribbean islands.

The beaches are beautiful, Trunk Bay is one of the most-photographed beaches in the world. Trunk Bay can be crowded but there are many other beaches, some almost empty. We snorkled and saw sting ray, many fishes and coral, a small shark, and sea turtles.

We stayed in a condo type building with a kitchenette and bought some food at a local supermarket (prices were high). We rented a jeep (drive on the left side of the road and watch out for donkeys and mongoose) and toured the entire island. There is some good shopping and restaurants. If you want shopping and crowds, hop on the ferry for a short 20 minute ride to St. Thomas.

Try it, you'll love it.

Any other suggestions??

And to answer your question Michelemouse, yes, out of the U.S.A! Thanks & keep them coming!

Another place to consider is the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico (south of Cancun). The Playa Del Carmen area has gorgeous white sand beaches, clear turquoise water, great snorkeling, and plenty of water sports. There are lots of beautiful resorts to stay at where you can do as much or as little as you like.

Ok, this is not out of the US, but Marco Island, FL. I love it here, and can't wait to go back with DDs.

I second Bermuda, depending on what time of the year you are planning to get married. From the East Coast, it's the perfect honeymoon location.

The clearest water I've ever encountered is at St. John. I've traveled to a lot of Caribbean islands (Puerto Rico, Bermuda, Bahamas, St. Thomas, St. Croix, Grand Cayman, Antigua and Barbados) and St. John is truly the best IMO. We always rent a private villa for our stays, and it's great. We get a house, with a pool and all the privacy we want. The beaches are great, and with the exception of Trunk, are usually dessert and never crowded. Since I've been to so many islands, they all begin to look the same after a while, but we've found our place with St. John. We usually go once every year or so, and are planning on going back either this November or next summer. We were just there in November 2003, and it hasn't changed much since our first trip January 1999. It truly is a bit of paradise!

You could stay in the US and try North Captiva Island, FL. Accessible only by boat. No cars, clear water, palm trees.

Aruba is nice, it's outside of the hurricane belt, so you don't have to worry about that. They have a rainy season in December and that's just a few weeks, other than that, the weather is consistant year round.:sunny:

ARUBA!! :teeth: Perfect weather all the time, year round!! I'm ready to go!

Anywhere in the Keys, on the Gulf Side!

Key West is very nice!

Antigua/Barbuda, BWI

Nantucket, MA

St Georgia's Island

Amelia Island

Freeport Grand Bahamas

Montserat, BWI

Napa Valley, CA

Carmel/ Monteray Bay, CA

All these are gorgeous places.
Have fun

and Happy Honeymoon!
:)

Last summer while standing chest deep in the ocean, I said to my husband "I cannot believe this!!! I can actually see my feet!" We were at Marco Island, FL. It was early June. At one part of the beach, shells like the kind you listen for the ocean in came rolling in by the droves. We had so many we could not carry them. It's a beautiful place.

Both of my favorites were already suggested, but this was the one and only nonWDW trip we've done, outside of the US. I loved Grand Cayman, and live to go back. The water was clear, deep blue, great shopping, great food, friendly people.

Playa del Carmen was lovely too, and a short bus ride away was Tulum, with the most perfect beach anywhere. They showed that area (Yucatan Peninsula) quite a bit on the recent Celebrity Mole - the resort they showed on that show is actually very reasonable, we have tours out of our area pretty regularly.

Mari annie - last time I checked there was no ocean in Napa Valley:confused: I was just there for Valentine's Day - but a great place nonetheless.

My best spots have been mentioned. But I will second

Grand Caymen - swam with the sting rays on a sand barge in the middle of the ocean on my honeymoon no shore within 2 miles!! Very cool.

Cancun/Tulum/Playa del Carmen - very beautiful water. I too have been to many of the places they were showin gon Celbrity Moe. I wouldn't stay in Cancun - seems to be much more commercialized than when I was there 14 years ago. But the areas near there are beautiful.

Cozumel - was a great place to scuba dive and had very clear water. you can stay on this island and then take a boat over to Cancun and the ruins.

Hawaii - a favorite of mine. the water is not quite as shockingly clear as the Caribbean, but is still a great place to visit.

sorry!

I listed my favorite places oceans or otherwise!!!

By the time a honeymoon comes around after scouting for months for that perfect* locale, most change their minds a dozen times!!
