Hello,
Mu sister in law is getting married and as a last minute idea, we got them 3 nights at Saratoga Springs for this month. They are a young couple and never been at Disney, we have only been there 2 times so is not like we have a lot of ideas and we when we went we had our kids with us , so we did the parks. I'm trying to get some pointers for them. they are not doing the parks, they are getting there in the evening on Sunday and returning on Wed night. They are getting the dinnig plan with the one sit down meal a day. I told them that there will be a lot to do at the board walk and Disney down town. They wont have a lot of money after the weding, so I'm lookng for stuff to do there they don;t have to spend a lot of money.
Thanks in advance to all!

Our favorite thing to do when not doing the parks is to go and walk around the other resorts. They will love GF and WL. Head over to Poly in time to watch the fireworks from the beach. Of course there is much to do at DTD.

In regards to their meal plan...they have our two favorite counter service restaurants just around the way at DTD:

The Earl of Sandwich is wonderful. It is usually very crowded and because of a poor design (sandwich pick-up, drink and utensil stands crammed into one small space) a little frustrating but the sandwiches and desserts (bread pudding) are great.

Wolfgang Puck Express is our favorite CS. It is a great value when on DDP. Everything we have ever had was tasty. Tell them to head over for breakfast also. It is usually pretty quiet and the breakfast pizza is terrific.

As far as Table Service meals that you won't need park access for...my favorites are Boma, Raglan Road and Kona Cafe.

Hope they have a blast! :cheer2:

why not just make them 3 dinner reservations now online for say 7PM each night---say Boma, Kona Cafe, the Wave, and/or Kat Kora's---whatever they like. Then, when they get to DVC, they can speak to concierge if they want to change--but that way, they will have some great ones. From SSR, we love taking the boat to DTD--and Puck Express Cafe on the Marketplace side is REALLY good--and can use a CS on the DDP. Also, it is really fun to go over to Coronado Springs, walk around and eat at the Pepper Market--also 1 CS--event though it feels more like a sit-down. If they did either of those CS places for dinner, they could even spulrge and use 2 TS for Flying Fish--that would be really cool.
AKL is very nice to go over and just animal/people watch, have a drink and watch the animals--very good viewing spots--have them walk out from the main lobby. It's also very fun to have a drink by the pool.-this makes a nice late afternoon prior to dinner at Boma. They also have a nice firepit after dinner.
We enjoy renting bikes and riding the trail between SSR and OKW. They could go over and relax at OKW one afternoon.

Victoria & Albert's would be a great dinner for honeymooners. There is also the spa at SSR for couples massage, dancing at the Boardwark, pool hopping at Grand Floridian...

oops I just saw the line about money being tight, sorry. Well, pool hopping is free. We also rented the water sprites one time and it wasn't too expensive for an hour or so and was a great time on Bay Lake and 7 seas lagoon.

Play tennis - SSR has courts.
Take a bike ride around Fort Wilderness campground.
Take a boat ride from DTD to Dixie Landings and back.(I do not call it Port Orleans, will always be a different resort to me)
Take a couple of golf clubs and balls, chip and putt around the putting green at one of the golf clubs.
Tour the other resorts.
Pool hop.
Have them take the DVC tour, even if they are not ready to join, they can get the drinks, cookies, and post-tour ice cream.
Tour DTD.
Have an after dinner whirlpool.
Go to GF, Port Orleans and/or Dixie Landings in the evenings and listen to the musicians, in the lounges.
Sit out by one of the quite pools and enjoy a drink.

There is putt putt at Boardwalk and Blizzard Beach!

You could easily spend an entire evening strolllling all around the Boardwalk / Beach Club area, playing the games, watching the jugglers, going to a restaurant, and playing putt putt golf. The surrey bikes are really fun at Boardwalk too.

IF they like to swim, they could go to a water park for a lot less than going into the parks, and it would take up all or most of a day.

I think a hay ride or campfire at Ft. Wilderness might be fun.

There are also carriage rides at Port Orleans and at Ft. Wilderness.

oh how fun! if you are able to get them ADRs at Boma tell them to go upstairs after dinner and watch the animals through the night vision goggles! we love that! :3dglasses go to the beach at WL, at night, watch WISHES!

Umm... I think getting them the stay is all you have to worry about. Young Newlyweds can make two full days go by in a blink. ;)

The dolphins in depth tour at Epcot startes at 9:45 about 3 hours.. no park admin required. see dolphins up close and person. I think there is 1 or 2 other tours that do not require admission too.

206$ pp or with a DVC or AP 180 or so.
dtd gas tons of stuff at night too movies, circus, food.
BW has some stuff along with jelly rolls too.

OK - if I were planning a honeymoon again... (we honeymooned at Wilderness Lodge in 2006)

Here is what I would do...

Book the Couples Instructional Massage at the Grand Floridian!

It's $300 - but it's 180 minutes of couples massage instruction - just the two of them and the therapist!

Yes, a couples massage would be nice - but the Couple's Instructional Massage is a gift that would keep on giving as once you learn how to totally relax one another through massage therapy - imagine what a life skill that would be - now - and for years to come!!

pixiedust:

If.... you know what I mean! HAHA :lmao:

But a few other ideas are:
A hard ticket event (time of year pending)
Halloween Party
Christmas Party

OR a ticket to a Food & Wine event etc.

You could also give them a 'gift certificate' for a carriage ride at Port Orleans!

There are tons of ideas!
