Need Help! Help us choose :)

Ok, so here is the deal...we are trying to decide where we would stay for our upcoming trip. We have a chance to use a friends DVC points for BLT . It is out of our price range to do a full BLT trip so we are going to do a split-stay. Our problem is deciding where else to stay and we are kind of torn.

My DH went to WDW as a child and stayed at ASM, I have only been to WDW the past 2 years we have stayed at CBR both times. We are planning for either a July or August vacation this year. Our options are either a longer time at BLT and either an All Star or POP.....or shorter time at BLT and CBR.

I'm not a "resort snob" lol and I have no problem staying at a value. Having said that I am concerned about staying there during the time we are thinking. Having been in July the past 2 years I have noticed a trend with the buses and the tour groups. For any of you DISers who have braved the values during this time how bad is it? I really don't have anything against them so to speak and can deal with it at the parks but are the buses always basically standing room only? And are the resorts insanely noisy and chaotic? That is really my main concerns, if isn't that bad we will probably do a longer BLT stay then.

Even though I would love to stay at BLT for as long as possible, would it be better to cut it short and stay at CBR again?

For a value I would definately recomend Pop Century. We love the theming, the rooms and the dedicated transportation. We won't stay at any other value. Though if the new Art of Animation is an option I would jump at the chance to try it out.

For a moderate our family likes Port Orleans Riverside. We stayed at CBR but prefer POR. The pool is nice and secluded with plants and trees around it. They have campfires in the evenings where you can roast marshmallows and a boat to downtown Disney. The rooms at POR have or will be renovated and are sumptuous.

Another thing to consder is the values only have double beds and no refrigerators and moderates have queen beds and refrigerators. Though if it is just two of you you could request a king bed room.

If it were me in your position I would stay at BLT as long as possible and then move to Pop.

You might find that you can get an upper balcony room with almost as good a view as blt. We are owners at BLT and have only stayed there once because we feel point totals are not worth the view. Some people love it we have stayed one time and will never be back but that is another story. If you are looking for view then BLT is nice but a lot. If you are looking for relaxation, Beach club, wilderness lodge, and okw (biggest rooms in dvc) are great places and you get more bang for your dvc buck. What every you decide have an awesome time!!

Another vote for Pop and a longer time at BLT or I would stay at POFQ and BLT. POFQ is very romantic and you have access to DTD by boat shuttle and can use the ameninites at POR.

How many days are you talking about when it comes to deciding to go value vs. mod? If the difference is something like 1 night at Pop and 5 at BLT vs. 3 at POFQ and 3 at BLT, I would do 1 @ Pop and 5 @ BLT. But, if you are talking 2 @Pop & 4 @ BLT vs. 3 @ POFQ & 3 @ BLT, I think I would choose POFQ/BLT because there is much more to do at POFQ area than at Pop for the time you are there.

I haven't stayed at a mod, but have at POP and ASSp. I would have no problem staying at POP to have a longer stay at BLT.

I'll admit I am a resort snob. I've never stayed at the Pop though. I've stayed at All Star Movies and Music and hated them. Each time it was a one night stay and I couldn't wait to leave.
If I had to choose between staying BLT and a value or a different DVC resort, I'd choose a different DVC resort. I'd love to stay at BLT but the thought of a value in July sounds like a nightmare to me. The buses were crowded enough in October.

Kind of using and buying lol. Our friends offered to "Get us into BLT" in return for a favor we did for them since they know we had shown interest in staying there. Since it was for a favor we are assuming 1 night would be free and anything on top of that would be on us. However, we haven't fully discussed this yet lol. We are trying to nail down when we are going and then were going to discuss further with them. We are looking for the view, I love the thought of seeing Cindererlla Castle out of my window . The Contemporary might be an option instead of BLT, that is a good idea. I will keep that in mind, thanks!

We are thinking between a 8-10 day vacation total. I am assuming at this point 1-3 nights at BLT, maybe a 4th night but I highly doubt that. We have to discuss further with our friends before setting anything in stone. We are just trying to keep a few options in mind before discussing with them.

Unfortunately, this late you are probably not going to get a theme park view at BLT. You are already 7 months out from August. You might get a lake view.
