IF we were to stay at the Poly, would we be able to take the monorail to Epcot and then walk the rest of the way to MGM? Do you have to actually go THRU Epcot (using a ticket) to get to MGM?

We will have a double and a single stroller, plan on taking a small cooler with snacks into the parks, and I HATE the thought of folding up the strollers to get on the busses.

Also, does the monorail go straight from Poly to MK, or do you have to get off at the TTC and take a different monorail? I am so confused!

One last question - can you walk from the Poly to MK? Can you walk from Poly to GF?

TIA

You do have to go through Epcot to the International Gateway in order to walk to MGM so a ticket is required. It would be a very long walk, especially with strollers. There is a boat at the international gateway that goes to MGM though, but you still need to walk through Epcot.

The monorail goes to the MK from the Poly without requiring any changes. And yes, you could walk to the GF and then to the MK from the Poly, but again it may be a bit of a hike with strollers. Doable though.

Have fun!

Your best option is to take the bus to MGM. If you would take the monorail to Epcot, you would have to go all the way through Epcot and leave through the International Gateway, and then still get to MGM. I really don't think this would is practical at all (I'm not sure its even possible).

The resort monorail goes Poly -> GF -> MK -> CR -> TTC -> Poly.

You'd only have to change monorails at TTC if you go to Epcot. (Of course, you can walk to the TTC from the Poly, which can be quicker depending on which longhouse you're in than taking the resort monorail around to the TTC.)

Yes, there is a path from the Poly to the Grand Floridian, but you can not walk from the Poly to the Magic Kingdom. You can, however, take a launch from the Poly to the MK, but you would need to fold strollers on the launch.

gw_lit has it right.

One other thought for you. If you take the ferry to the MK, it might be easiest with your strollers. You just walk to the TTC from the Polynesian and stroll right on. :teeth: It is a short walk from the Tahiti, Rapa Nui and Tokelau. On the monorial, you might need to fold your strollers if it is crowded. Depending on the size of your double, you might need to regardless. But you can experiment...so many transportation options from the Polynesian!

BTW, it is possible to do the EPCOT>International Gateway and then boat to MGM but as noted you would need to use a ticket to get in EPCOT and the whole thing would take a minimum of an hour if you hit everything perfectly I think.

Though I've never walked it ( only seen it from the monorail ), I thought there was a lighted sidewalk from GF to MK. Am I wrong about this?

By the way, though not practical for families with small children, the walk from the international gateway to MGM is possible. I've done this a few times.

There's a small water channel about midway between the GF and the MK entrance. Since there's no bridge, the sidewalk ends there and there's no way to walk the entire way without going places Disney doesn't want you to be!

Thanks cigar95! Since I'm a walker, I might have tried to make the trek at some point. I wonder why they have a sidewalk where "you can't get there from here"?

Those sidewalks are paved with "Walk Around the World" stones, which WDW collected lots of money for. (I don't recall if there's a similar walkway from the GF or not.)

Last week I walked from the MK all the way out to the end of the walk while waiting for the boat to the GF. I suspect that's one place in WDW rarely frequented by guests, other than those whose stones are down there.
