Ok I admit it, same as I'm sure 99% of most of you, after DVC it is just about impossible to stay just anyplace else.

We have one night that we need to stay in the Tampa St. Pete area. I just cannot pick a hotel. I was pretty much set on the St Pete Hilton, then I read some cruise critic reports and got cold feet.

I just need a hotel that is close to the Tampa Devil Rays Baseball Stadium. We will be there one night checking in Friday afternoon and checking out the next day to come home. I don't care about the beach, I want a really nice room, clean, nice hotel, and don't want to pay more then $100 a night. There are 4 of us 2 parents, one 18 year old, one 15 year old. Beds must at least be Queen size.

Has anyone stayed in the area that can give a recommendation.

Thanks in advance.

It's coming up $250 for the night we need. Far too much for a hotel just to sleep in.

Have you tried Tripadvisor web site? Those reviews are pretty good.

THis reminds me of my son when we had to spend one night off site prior to DVC stay.... My son starts laughing when I pulled in saying "Dad is this the hotel? Come on this place is a joke! I doesn't look anything like the BW!" :rotfl2:

See how we have spoiled our children!!! ;)

Trip Advisor has mixed reviews on the Hilton St Pete hotel. I'm concerned about how the elevators are situated right near the rooms and you hear them all night long. Plus how clean they are are mixed reviews.

Who knew those long BWV halls and not being near an elevator would make me hate to be by an elevator LOL

Don't know what night you need but for the $100 per night range I would think you would have to go to the northern side of St. Pete, mid-county, Ulmerton Road area. There are many smaller hotels accomodating business travellers with lower rates on weekends. But with our interstate, I-275, it is only about 15 minutes from the Ulmerton Road area to the stadium.

Downtown, near the stadium there is only the Hilton and Renaissance Vinoy (really nice), probably a few B&B's. The Don Cesar is on the beach and most beach hotels are high priced as well.

St. Pete is no longer the "come here to die" capital and the prices really reflect it. Check out the wall of high rise condos downtown, starting at a half a million. But what a view!!
