Ok so I was at sams club today and bought this pizza by Michael Angelo's. It says total carbs 11 g and protein 41 g on the front of the box. This the same as net carbs? if not how many net carbs?
This has been explain to me a few times, I just dont get it but now that low carbs is such a big thing, no need to because everyone is advertising "net carbs". So the nutritional facts are as followed ( I am listing them becasue I am under the impressions there is math involved in findin the net carb.

Calories 370
calories from fat 170
total fat 19g (daily value) DV 29%
saturated fat 4.5 g DV 23%
Colesterol 35mg DV 11%
sodium 700 mg DV 29%
total carbs 11g DV 4%
dietary fiber 2g
Sugars<1g
Protein 41g DV 82%

By the way this pizza was good but a little misleading because it is a personal size pizza and states 11g total carbs, I assumed this was for one pizza. IT IS FOR ONE HALF OF THE PIZZA!
I know, I know, I should have rad the back but just assumed.
anyway maybe I could understand how this works (net carbs) by using this as an example.
thank all

According to my calculations, 1/2 of the pizza would equal 9 net carbs.

11 total carbs less 2 grams of fiber = 9 net carbs.

So the full pizza would equal 18 carbs. (Sorry had to correct my sloppy fingers)

Isn't it funny that a "personal" pizza has 2 servings?

Ok dis.....I feel like a total idiot...lol
Is it that simple?
I remember it being explained to me and I was like WHOAAAAA!
Or maybe what I was being explaiend to me was what the difference between carbs and net carbs were! Who knows I dont remember but thanks..... that was easy enough!

Shopping now takes my DH and I twice as long because we are reading every label like its a novel before we put an item in the cart.

There are all these new products being introduced as low-carb. But the serving size are 1/2 cup - now be honest, who has ever eaten just 1/2 cup of pasta? Yes, the difference between low-carb pasta and regular pasta is about half. However, we've decided that even low-carb pasta is not something we can re-introduce until the weight is long gone.

What confuses me, is the products that on the label will have as many as 11-25 carbs (6-20 net carbs) but say on the package to only count as 1-3 net carbs. A lot of "low-carb" bars, shakes and even candy are labeled this way. I realize it has something to do with the way the product affects your blood sugar - but after reading the Atkins books where you are told to count net carbs - I'm skeptical about adding these processed foods to my diet. I'm still trying to stay around 20 carbs/day.
