My mom and I are going to Disney World January 22-26, 2018 for my 21st birthday. We want to try restaurants that we have never been to. We are only eating at four restaurants and had planned on eating at:
  • Via Napoli
  • 50s Prime Time Cafe
  • Be Our Guest
  • Art Smith's Homecoming
However, we watched the review of the Polite Pig and really want to make that one of our places. Which restaurant should we replace with the Polite Pig? All advice is welcome because we have never eaten at any of these places.

Be our guest is excellent for dinner. Not so much for lunch but still good
50's was just ok to be honest.
Haven't been to the other 2

We really enjoy 50's Prime Time. It is the only place that we make sure we go to on every single trip. It is comfort food. The fried chicken dinner is very good.
Via Napoli - We enjoy the pizza and the Tiramisu dessert is excellent.
Be Our Guest - The atmosphere is nice. Our dinner was just "okay". It wasn't bad, it just wasn't anything special.
You may want to consider that good pizza is available at a places for people at home. Unless you were planning on having something other than pizza.
I would probably drop "Homecoming".

What is more important, the food or the experience? I'd probably cut 50s PT unless you are really looking forward to the antics.

Is there a reason you're only eating at four restaurants? Are you only there for two days, and only need four meals? The four you list are all TS, at least for dinner. Do you mean you only plan to eat at four TS restaurants? If that is the case, you don't need to eliminate anything. Polite Pig is a QS restaurant.

50s Prime Time is my idea of hell on earth, so I'd drop that. Do you know about the antics, etc.? Some people love that stuff (and that's cool); some people hate it. Also, the menu is not appealing to me, but neither was Homecoming (I believe in gerunds!) until I saw all the non fried chicken stuff. I'm from Nashville, fried chicken is HOT, or worthless, lol:)

Homecoming's fried chicken will be way better than 50s Prime Time...so you're likely to be disappointed in the food if you do them both and get similar comfort options...so I'd drop that one if it doesn't make it too hard for park going purposes...if you only have one DS outing, then I'd drop Homecoming...again, if you eat at both, you'll be disappointed at one...

50s and Homecoming are probably the two that are most alike. However, we really like both. Noticing the 21st birthday, Homecoming has some of the best cocktails on property, besides Trader Sam's. Have you thought about just sitting outside or at the bar at Homecoming, getting some cocktails and the awesome appetizers? You could then still eat at Polite Pig later. You could even share food at Polite Pig, since it's a QS. Via Napoli is good, but it is pizza. BOG dinner is worth it but not so much lunch.

Bail on 50's. Meatloaf and green beans on vaca is a nada.

Why not? They are good. Plus, sometimes it's nice to get veggies on vacation. Sometimes, I can get tired of all of the sweets and carbs. However, ditching 50s wouldn't be a bad choice in her situation.

That's a really good idea!

And yes, we are focusing on food and drinks more than the experience.

I forgot about the antics!!! And because they do not have that great of a drink menu, we will probably drop 50s Prime Time. We don't plan on spending a full day in HS anyway because half the park is out of commission. :smickey:

For some reason, my mom thought it was a TS. But Cookes of Dublin is also a QS in Disney Springs and it is my favorite QS on property so I would rather go there for lunch and polite pig for dinner.

Welcome to asking for advice on Disney restaurants, what one person loves, another hates. There's no real way to tell what your personal experience will be, so I say go with your gut. Make the change based on the location, like your original thought. I'm sure you will enjoy them all.

Absolutely! I totally agree. As for "the antics", personally we haven't experienced much in the way of antics during our last 5 visits there. That's not to say it doesn't happen. I'm sure it does for some. But from our experiences, the antics have been very mild. As the previous post states "go with your gut" and enjoy.

Cut 50s. I like the place, but Homecoming is amazing and no way I'd be dropping that, and I personally enjoy Via Napoli and BOG more than I do 50s.

LOL! Agreeed.

I always make choices based on where we will be, so if you are only in DHS for 1/2 a day I would not waste time with a TS restaurant. I would cut 50's and not look back.

I really enjoyed Homecomin' so I am biased. I woudl choose a TS over CS every time for my main meal of the day.

You could get one sandwich from Polite Pig and one from the walk up window at Homecoming and split them.
