Need help deciding where to stay: AKV or VWL w/2yr old

We've decided to stay in a one bed room and blow our points since we won't be able to make it back to Disney until 2012.
But now we can't decided where it would be best to stay. Originally, we picked VWL in a studio, so we would be close to the Magic Kingdom. But now we're wondering since we are going to do a 1 bedroom if we should do AKL since it is more updated and it has a 2nd bathroom.
The problems are that when we stayed in Kidani in May, we were in a studio and we did not like that it did not have any counter service. But we could stay at Jambo house and be near the Mara and Boma for TS.
We stayed at the WL for our honeymoon in 2005 and loved the resort. We are celebrating our 5 yr anniversary, so we thought it would be fun to stay at the VWL. We joined DVC last September.
We also will have our 2 yr old DS with us. He will turn 3 on our trip. So, we like that VWL is close to the MK.

DH and I are completely torn on what to do. We will be in Disney for 12 days, so we will spend some time in the resort as well.

Can anyone offer any advice/suggestions/imput? Anything at all would help. Thanks!

Either AKV or VWL will be fine with a 2 yr old or without a 2 yr old. Although we own at AKV, so I would probably pick AKV. However, my advice to you is to flip a coin- heads will be AKV and tails will be VWL. Flip the coin and make the ressie.

I have a 2.5 year old and we have a reservation at WL in november for 5 nights and it turns out we are going to need to come in on saturday to get reasonably priced flights since it is thanksgiving weekend and i called MS yesterday and they have a savanna view at AK or WL studio and I think even though it means moving we are going to try AK for one night. We've never been there and i think the pool area looks like so much fun for young children. I'm also excited to try the resturants. The WL boat to the MK is definately a plus though.

I know the pool area at WL doesn't have much of a toddler area just the small toddler pool. I believe AKL has quite a little water play area that your 2 year old might enjoy more.

My vote is for AKV with the better pools and all the animals. Everytime my 18 month old (at the time) saw the cattle outside he would yell "Mommy....MOOOOOOO". It was also the first thing he said when he woke up our first day there. It was very cute.

I'm not too worried about the pools since it will be December/January when we go. Its just hard to decide. I like the WL, but the pics look dated. We stayed at BWV in May and DH & I kept talking about how dated it was. But I know we'll be going to the MK the most since DS is so young.
