I'm helping a co-worker plan a short trip with her DS, DIL and 2 yr old granddaughter. Her son has MS and will be using a scooter or wheelchair. They will probably only be going to MK, so would the Contemporary be the most convenient hotel for them?

Also, can anyone recommend any of the guidebooks specifically aimed at disabilities?

First of all, I agree that if they are only going to the MK, the Contemporary is an excellent resort choice for them. The Polynesian would also be a reasonable choice, especially if they would like to go to Epcot. You can walk from the Poly to the TTC and connect to the MK and EP from there using the monorail or get to the MK using the ferryboat.

allears.net has an excellent section on their website for guests with disabilities. Here's a link: http://allears.net/pl/special.htm

Passporter has a guidebook specifically geared towards WDW guests with disabilities. I've never read it but it is recommended by allears and I've seen it recommended here on the DISboards as well.

I'd also recommend you pass along the link to this website to your coworker. The DISboarders who post here on the DISabilities forum are knowlegable and beyond helpful. If your coworker or her son have any questions or concerns, I'm sure they'll be able to find answers here.

The Contemporary is very convenient to MK, as are the other monorail resorts. With a 2yo and Dad has MS, it'll be easy to return to the room for naps/rest-time and then back to MK for more fun without wasting a lot of time traveling back-and-forth.

However, the deluxe resorts are $$$ so if budget is a big consideration they might want to consider a Moderate or Value. For ease of using WDW buses, I'd suggest POFQ as a moderate because it has one bus stop and therefore less likely to have those ECV spots already taken. For value, consider POP or AoA, again for the same reason of not sharing buses.

The Passporter's Open Mouse for WDW is a good resource.
