Hi! This is the first time we will be on Airtran Airlines. I was wondering about whether or not we will be able to gate-check the stroller? Will it count towards our carry-ons? Or will there be any charges for it? It's a small Mac in a bag if that makes any difference. Thanks!!

I checked mine at the gate recently without a problem and it doesn't count torwards checked items.

We've flown AirTran twice with strollers and haven't had trouble gate checking it.

We gate checked too! Didn't have any problems!

I have never gate checked a stroller. This may sound like a dumb question, but what do you have to do to gate check it? We are also flying Airtran and we leave this Saturday.

I know when I traveled on American, we simply took the stroller to the gate and gave it to the agents there and then it was waiting for us when we got off the plane! I am very protective about my Mac so I did put it into a padded stroller travel bag with "Gate Check" written on it!

Take the stroller to the gate attendants. Both times with AirTran they've tagged our strollers. We kept the stroller with us and simply left it outside the actual entrance to the plane. The stroller was waiting there both times...didn't count against checked or carry-on baggage either time.

We are flying Jet Blue in Dec. I was told I had to check the stroller and it would count as one of my checked bags.

My sil flew Jet Blue last week TPA to BOS and gate checked a stroller both ways. If you prefer to gate check the stroller I would call again.

Just a quick PSA on gate checking strollers - from experience :)

Fold the stroller yourself when leaving it at the gate - often the handlers don't know how and will force it if need be to get it loaded. I also used a small bungee coard to double secure it and prevent it from opening by accident. You can also use a stroller bag if you prefer. Remove any attachments if you can, parent and or child trays and all toys and pack them in your checked luggage. Anything loose that is likely to catch when handled should come off. You can do without the extras at the airport and the rebuild the stroller when you arrive at WDW.

We fly airtran all the time. I always tell them at the luggage check I am going to gate check the stroller and they are just like okay. So then at the gate I ask them for a tag. Never counts as baggage. I also fold it for them. I don't expect others to know how to fold it. Never an issue.
