First off I have been a member of these boards for a very long time but due to the nature of this post I didn't want my family to find out before I was ready.

Okay I have been struggling with this for over a year and it's to the point where I'm not sure where else to turn to. I know this is not a doctoring place or a place to get medicial advice. What I am looking for is someone who maybe has these symptom's and/or emotions and can point me in the right direction.

Background: I am 32, almost 33, white female. I have lived at home all my life with the exception of a year at college and 2 times in Florida. I am adopted. I get regular health screenings and they have found nothing.

Here are the issues, problems, symptoms, emotions. I change moods at the drop of the hat, I do not tolerate change, I get so angry that sometimes I feel like well..ending it all, if someone breaks a promise to me I go off on them without even thinking, I cannot control things about myself at times, I get so angry that sometimes things happen to me(not to others), and so many other things that I cannot even begin to fully explain.

I am posting this under another name because I do not want to get labeled as a freak. I am coming here to my friends, in hopes to find answers. The DIS means the world to me and I know that maybe there is someone out there that can point me in the right direction(s).

I'm not a doctor, but I wonder if you have ever been evaluated for mood disorders, in particular bipolar disorder. What you describe is very similar to bipolar depression and can be treated with medication--it's a chemical imbalance. Call a mental health provider, preferably a psychiatrist. They are doctors who specialize in diagnosising serious mood swings and can prescribe medication if you need it.

First of all, {{{HUGS}}}.

Now, get your hiney to a doctor and describe your symptoms!!!! There is nothing to be ashamed of and there is no good reason for you to continue living with these symptoms when it is VERY likely that it can be helped.

Please do not continue to suffer with this. I am alarmed by your thoughts of 'ending it all'...that does not mean you are a freak. It means you are really suffering. You need to get to e doctor and seek help..and don't give up until you find a doctor who can really help you.

I certainly don't have any medical knowledge and have no business dispensing advice, but I know that moods, emotions, and your reactions to your environment are often chemical in nature, and you'd be surprised at how much the right RX can affect your state of being. If you can have an honest conversation with a doctor, he will recognize your symptoms and tell you exactly what to do. If you commit to following his advice, you will surely start to see a change.

First of all, you are not a freak, please don't hand the world a label for them to slap on you... :grouphug:

Secondly, what she said would have been my advice, if I were as eloquent and been here first. And, hey! another :grouphug: for good measure!

I agree with both of the PP's, get thee to a mental health professional. You could have a chemical imbalance that is affecting your mood. The reason for suggesting mental health is that they can help identify what is bothering you much quicker than a general practitioner.

Good luck. You're obviously beating yourself up for things that you cannot control. I hope you get the help you need to feel good about yourself.

Pssst, btw, I went through therapy 12 years ago for depression and anxiety when my ex husband walked out. It was the best thing I have ever done for myself and if I had the funds, I'd go every week.

I think you should get yourself to a dr to be evaluated for depression...it is estimated that many many ppl (espicially women!) live with some degree of depressive mood disorder and never seek treatment for fear of being labled in some way. Your symptoms sound all too familiar...and it is nothing to be ashamed of. feel free to im me if you want to talk more :)

:grouphug: Make an appointment to see a doctor. Don't feel embarrassed about "mental" issues ever. Its a sickness just like anything else.

Good luck and please go see a doctor as soon as you can. :)

I would first schedule a complete physical (not just a screening) with a physician. Sometimes mental health issues can be related to various physical problems such as your thyroid or hormone levels. Make sure you describe all of your symptoms to your doctor so that he can guide you to the best treatment wether it be with a medical or mental health professional. And don't give up. You deserve to live a happy life. Know that we all care about you. :grouphug:

Thank you all for your support & advice. A question that has popped up in my mind in reading this is Which is better? Some say Mental health advisior & others are saying doctor. I really want to find out what is going on and finally get control back over my life. I hate all these feelings and it's scaring me to the point I know I now must get help.

Honestly, you really should see both...

How about the mental health advisor first, only IF we have to choose one. If that doesn't work, then medical doctor and tests?

Your right, a complete physical too wouldn't hurt anything. Good point.

I would go see a psychiatrist who is an M.D. with a specialty in mental health. A therapist cannot assess you physically.

I see a psychiatrist for anxiety. He does all kinds of medical tests on me to make sure the "physical" is ruled out. He runs complete blood counts, thyroid tests, etc. He can also tell you when you need to see a regular GP about things. In fact, mine has consulted with my thyroid doctor several times.

Call your primary doctor TODAY and seek help. Don't wait.
If you cannot do it then find out about in-patient centers. Could be a place for you to start.

I agree with the others get to the doctor ASAP. Also :grouphug: There is no reason to be embarrassed. I admire you for knowing there was a problem and asking for advice! That take courage!!

This is very good advice.

I would go to a regular MD first, and have a complete physical. Often, mood swings and such can be attributed to a physical cause such as thyroid, hormonal imbalances and so on. A gynecological evaluation probably wouldn't hurt either.

If both of those turn out to be negative, then get thee to a mental health professional!!!!!!! No shame in that...in fact, it's very courageous to know you have a problem that you need help with.
