I am looking for some information for a freind. They are traveling in November with 8 adults and 3 kids (7,4,3) They would like to stay someplace that has transpo to the parks. They really don't want the hassle of renting a car and dealing with the car seats. I told them that they will most likely need to get two rooms. Any thoughts? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've never ahd to look for accomodations for this many people! But, it will help me because I hope to do this sort of thing with extended family in the future!!! Thanks!! :goodvibes

I would suggest staying on site so they can take advantage of free Magical Express from the airport and internal transportation. They would need probably 3-4 rooms in the hotels, or 2 two-bedroom DVC units.

Another option to look into would be to get 2 rooms at the Doubletree Suites in Downtown Disney. Each room would sleep 6. They would need to get a towncar service to get them there from the airport, however. DTD resorts do have their own continuously running bus system to the parks. Not quite as good as Disney's own transportation, but not bad either. They could also fit in to 2 cabins at Ft. Wilderness, if they would enjoy that atmosphere.

with DVC resorts they only need a 2-bedroom and studio - that will sleep 12.

now if they insist on everyone being together there is a Grande vista that sleeps 12 - but you are talking BIG time money for this one.

they can rent from a DVC member to help with the cost.

or 3 studios - that would be my choice. but some people do just fine all together. (my family does not)

if they stay onsite at Disney - then they get DME as well. DTD does not have this. So that is added expensive as well.

Thanks for the help everyone! I suggested Doubletree and Caribe Royal to them. I had previously mentioned on site at OKW, renting points. I suggested it again with the 3 studio option. I would have to agree with the splitting up part! My family would never survive all togeter in a Grand Villa!!! :scared: :lmao: I think on site is best, but I'll just have to see what they end up with. Thanks again!!

Also consider Runaway Beach Club, they have complimentary shuttle transportation to the parks. It's a very nice property.

Yeah, I took a quick glance at the rates for Mears, and they would be spending about $300 just on a shuttle to their off-site resort. Not cheap!

And don't forget to remind your friends that while off-site resorts do have shuttles to the parks, they run infrequently. Usually at set times in the morning and set times at night. It would not be easy for some of them to head back to the resort midday if they wanted to.

How about getting a couple of All-Star Suites? They sleep 6 each, and each has 2 bathrooms as well. Rates start at $184 a night, depending on season and which day of the week it is.
