I am searching for a double wall oven where the one oven is standard size, and the second oven would be smaller...to fit a casserole dish, tray of cookies, pan of biscuits, etc.

OR...what about a wall oven, and the other oven a microwave/convection oven? I don't really understand microwaves that are also convection...I feel kind of intimidated by the concept. I would love to hear from someone who has one and uses it as both microwave AND oven on a regular basis.

I have done google searches but I am kind of confused by the results.

Thanks!

I have a convection oven/microwave combo in our travel trailer. I LOVE it! It cooks just like a reg oven, just in smaller portions. When using the convection oven part, you are able to use any kind of cookware! (metal and foil too!) The only thing that is a bit frustrating at first is finding the right size pans. When using the convection, there is a metal wire rack that fits on the turntable, and you place the pan on the rack after you pre-heat. However, most cake pans have a handles that make it longer than 13x9, and they will get stuck and not turn (even though the inside of my convection is 15 inches wide. I just use a 9x9 glass pan, or disposable foil 13x9 pans and bend the edges up. And I use a pizza pan for cookies, pizza and big biscuits. They are simple to use, and come with a instruction book that explains all of the settings and cooking time conversions.

Everything tastes just like it came out of a reg oven too! I even cooked a turkey breast with stuffing last thanksgiving, and a small beef tenderloin for Christmas using the convection part! The downside of cooking things that need basting is that you have to baste quickly because convection ovens do not retain their heat like reg ovens.

The microwave part works just like a reg microwave. No metal of any kind can be used when microwaving.

I don't know if you can get a in wall convection oven/microwave because they need proper ventilation. If I had my choice, I would do a double wall oven and then have a over the counter convection to save counter space.

That is all I can think of right now, if you have any specific questions, just ask or pm me. :)

Thank you! My GF has a conv/micro amd she does indeed love it. I posted this question on another message board I frequent (a cooking message board) and the only thing I was told to be careful of with a micro/oven combo (I mean having the micro conv on top, and a regular oven below) is that a micro will usually need repair or replacement (regardless of if it has conv capabilities or not) before a regular oven. They suggested what you did...a single wall oven with the conv/micro elsewhere...not together on the wall.

Anyway, thanks again for your glowing review. It is definitely something I am considering!

Yep - I had the same concerns when planning our kitchen remodel. In the end, I had a 2nd electrical line run and put in a single wall oven with a microwave / quick cooker above it - 2 different units. That replaced a one piece oven/microwave combination. Could you do something like that?

BTW, we put a GE Advantium oven in place of the old microwave.... it was a splurge but has turned out to be one of the best additions to the kitchen. You can use it as a standard microwave but also has quick cooker capability which is a combo of halogen and microwave for cooking things that would otherwise be done in a standard oven. Takes a LOT less time and throws off minimal heat.

I have new double wall ovens - one is standard and one is convection. My microwave is across the kitchen in a built-in cabinet.

I love my new ovens - the convection part is new to me but very handy when I want something done a little more quickly - like a baked potato in 50 minutes instead of an hour, etc. It saves some time!!

I LOVE having double wall ovens!!! So useful for so many things!
